Outdoor with Kids in Dubai this Winter

With the temperature dropping down to early 30s – families always get excited here in Dubai as that means that we can finally do things outdoors with the kids.

Here are a few suggestions on outdoor activities in Dubai – suitable for those with younger ones.

Spend a day in Dubai Marina, JBR & Bluewaters

If you’ve never taken the kids here – this is the best time to do it.

Take the kids outdoors – get on the tram around the marina, bring their scooters or bicycles so they can explore the promenade together with you. Stop at the many playgrounds dotted along the way. Take the water taxi within the marina or otherwise towards Bluewaters to carry on the journey. You can easily spend an entire day being out and about in our neighbourhood!

Spend a day in Jumeirah Islands Pavilion

Start with breakfast at Hamptons, Brunch & Cake, or Circle Cafe…… the little ones can run around on the lawn right out front. Bring the scooters as well, there’s a track right out front for them to whizz around on. Spend sometime at the playground (it’s next to Hamptons as well). Remember to validate your parking!

Spend the day at The Pointe

Head over to The Pointe with the little ones this winter. There is a free playground in the East side, outside McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Let them play, bring their scooters so they can scoot around on the promenade afterwards. Stop in one of the many restaurants in The Pointe for a bite.

Spend the day at Palm West Beach

We absolutely love Palm West Beach in the winter months. It’s hot in the daytime as it gets a lot of sun, but come sunset this place is the best place to be. The boardwalk is buzzing with people walking dogs, families scootering, rollerblading, cycling. There are buggies to take you back and forth if you are tired.

We find Jones the Grocer and Senor Pico the more family-friendly joints amongst many.

There are now many resorts open along there – Fairmont, Hilton and soon – Marriott as well. Take the kids there!

Spend sometime at Dubai Harbour

As we live close to Dubai Harbour – this is literally our backyard.

There’s so much space for them to run around – bring the bicycles, scooters. Or go for a jog along the entire route – it’s beautiful there, especially at sunset and in the evenings.

Don’t forget to stop by Delizie Caffe Gourmet for a bite! Have a read of our review of Delizie, here.

Take the kids to the parks

There are so many parks in Dubai. Of the many public parks, these are the ones we like to go to with the little ones :

  • Jumeirah Islands Pavilion
  • Dubai Hills Park
  • Safa 2
  • Al Sufouh Park
  • JLT Park

Dine in one of many outdoor cafes where kids can play

Winter is a good time to take the family to the many outdoor cafes and restaurants where kids can play. There are lots that have a shaded playground next to it, or pop over to one of the beachside cafes where the kids can just play with sand!

Have a browse through this list of licensed restaurants where kids can play.

Get active with the kids in Aventura Parks

Take the family to Aventura Parks for an exciting day out. There’s the Discovery Play Area for the younger ones, and of course the many circuits for the older kids. It’s such a fun family activity as you get to do it together with them, learn new skills and build confidence. PS – Something the husbands will enjoy too 😉

For details on the different circuits and prices in Aventura Parks, see here.

Spend time with animals at X Park Jr

Drive to X Park Junior to take the little ones to see animals and splash around in the splash pad. They have offers on Monday to Wednesdays as well called ‘Mummy Mornings’.

For more details, have a look at X Park Jr’s website.

Take the family to Dubai Safari Park

A popular one in the winter is Dubai Safari Park. Make sure to preplan, go early as it does get quite warm there.

Take the kids to Legoland at Dubai Parks and Resorts!

Legoland at Dubai Parks and Resorts is great to go in the winter. Good weather means less chances of little people (and big people) getting grumpy and hot, ha ha. Make sure to check the heights restrictions before you go to prep! Kids under 3 go for free.
