Re-introducing a much loved resort of ours : Le Royal Meridien Resort & Spa. Every Sunday, their British Seafood restaurant Geales does a family day lunch. We have done this a few times now, though it was still exciting for us to return, with all 3 in tow.
Here’s what to expect in the Geales Family Day Lunch.
Where is Geales again?
As you enter the Le Royal Meridien, walk ‘through’ the resort to their outdoor area – on the right hand side. Geales is in a separate building, boasting a expansive terrace and a large lawn area on both sides.

You can of course choose to sit ‘indoors’, which is what we did, though to highlight that in the winter months they open up the terrace doors to allow inside outside flow.

Let’s talk about the food.
Geales’ Sunday Family Day Lunch is a relaxed one to do.
Starters are all served to table, and mains and desserts are available as a simple, but quality buffet spread.
From the starters – you get a seafood cocktail salad, as well as a delicious beetroot salad – served with walnut, rocket leaves and warning : goat’s cheese! 🙂 There’s also chili garlic prawns – tangy and a little spicy. And roasted chicken wings served with BBQ honey mustard marinade, and fish cakes – which my kids loved.

From the buffet spread you’ll get roast beef, yorkshire pudding, potatoes and greens. There is roast chicken of course, and baked fish, spaghetti bolognaise and all the kid’s favourites : mini burgers, pizza, chips and chicken nuggets.

You can also request for their signature fish and chips – which is so good. They prep it fresh for you in the kitchen so it’s still crispy on the outside and be careful as the handcut chunky chips are proper hot, fresh out of the fryer!

And of course, their special dessert room – which I love that is somewhat hidden so the kids don’t get distracted and start of lunch with gummies and marshmellows. In fact they didn’t even know that the room existed until the very end of brunch when we took them in there, haha. All brunches should do this.

Is there any entertainment for kids?
Yes, they still do. They’ve utilised the lawn closer to the main building – with an inflated tent to provide shade for all arts & crafts, sand painting, face painting, and more.
There are giant bubble stations which my kids basically hogged for most of the afternoon (sorry!). They loved that they got to do it themselves for a change instead of watching someone else do it.
Other set ups include little basketball, throw the ball, archery, throw the hoops, giant Connect 4 and jenga. It’s all laid out on the lawn so kids can help themselves to the games as they please.
And if you want to pick a table close to the lawn – there are a few high tables there – which we did at the end of the afternoon when we were done with food.

Overall Thoughts

Geales Family Day Lunch is a relaxed one to do with the little ones.
Do this if you prefer a quieter, more chilled out afternoon with the family – with good British food and some drinks. If you don’t want to do the lunch offer, you can always go ala carte – and the kids can still join in the fun in the lawn 🙂 Don’t forget to go for a wander around the grounds of Le Royal Meridien after lunch – go find the peacocks, and say hi to the ducks!

PS – If you see Flann – please say hi 🙂
