We returned to One&Only Royal Mirage, early July – this time to check out the newly refurbished Beach Bar & Grill, and to spend an afternoon at their new Adults-only pool : Al Janoub Pool. I brought mum – not that she’s a big fan of sitting in the sun when it’s 45 degrees in the middle of Dubai’s summer haha, but I knew that she’ll love spending some time in a property like One&Only : exclusive, beautiful and a little different.

So, where exactly is Al Janoub Pool?
Once you enter the One&Only Royal Mirage, head towards The Palace. Take the lifts down, and it’s a short stroll through manicured lawns towards The Beach Bar & Grill. Al Janoub is tucked to the side – it’s a discreet spot, and when we were there on a Friday afternoon it was nice and quiet. Take note that we were there early July – the peak of Summer so it was definitely low season.

Did you say it was Adults-Only?
Yes, and rightly so.
There are two other pools in One&Only that allows kids – The Grand Palace Pool, and the Arabian Courts pool.
It is not the only Adults-Only pool in One&Only, as there is Drift Beach on the other end of the property. That’s a beach club – so it’s much livelier, oftentimes having party music, and will attract a lot more day pass users. I’ll call Al Janoub the tamer, more discreet spot 😉

How was it like, when you were there?
We were there after lunch around 2:30pm or so (mid-July) – it was still quite hot. Thank goodness for the mini red SMEG fridges by the cabanas (talk about lux appliances!), and ice cold buckets of water provided complimentary for guests. Mum disappeared back into the hotel while I hung around poolside for awhile. The pool water was refreshingly cold (thank goodness).
If you not a fan of the sun, I would suggest coming to Al Janoub close to sunset as there is minimal shade by the pool. You may prefer The Grand Palace Pool instead, which has a lot of trees within and around the pool.

How much would it cost, to spend a day there?*

If you are not staying the night, and plan to spend a pool day here. As of July 2022, these are the prices as taken from One&Only’s website :
- Sunlounger : AED 250 per adult ( As advised by the team over the phone : 100 AED redeemable in drinks poolside )
- Single gazebo with seating lounge : AED 1,000 for two, including AED 250 beverage credit
- Double gazebo with seating lounge : AED 1,500 for up to four, including AED 250 beverage credit
Please double check pricing on our Pool & Beach Day Pass listing, or otherwise give them a call before you head over.
Overall Thoughts
Cliche as it may be, Al Janoub is what I’ll call one of Dubai’s current ‘hidden gems’. It is not accessible via any lifestyle memberships, and is definitely a quiet spot to hide away to, if you want to take a break from a hectic Dubai life.
It would have been ideal if there were not half-built buildings in front of it, but – it is still an exclusive, discreet spot to sunbath at, and jump in for an ice-cold swim. Pop into The Beach Bar&Grill for a bite before or after – read about that, here.
