With temperatures hovering around the 40 degrees mark and Dubai summer in full-swing – it is the perfect time for brunches which includes pool access. So you eat and you drink, and then you end the day by jumping into the pool with the kids. Let’s do this every weekend, shall we? 🙂
Off we went to the Palm on Friday to review the Riva Beach Club brunch with the family. This time we were meeting another close family friends of ours – more fun for the kids – at least they can keep each other company and give us some time to chit chat 😉
How was the brunch? Thoughts?
First off – where is Riva Beach Club?
Situated at Shoreline 8, Riva has been there for quite a few years now. At least 2012, when I was going to Kalm Spa (now closed) for the many pampering sessions. We have been to Riva numerous times for lunch, as well as pool & beach days with Privilee.
It is a nice spot for a casual pop in and swim with the kids – you can read about why I like it here.
Brunch with the family? What is included?
It’s a set menu, serve-to-table style brunch. Appetisers, comprising of flat bread, hummus, salad, and buffalo wings. Very interesting mix of food, a bit of arabic and western thrown into one – Mediterranean food it is. Works for us. If you don’t have a big appetite I would suggest to pass half your plate on to someone that does, save your tummy for the mains.
And that, also brought swiftly to the table – butter chicken with rice, and a mixture of grilled meats (see below). They had a separate kids menu with the kids standard favourites – penne pasta with chicken and cheese sauce, spaghetti bolognaise, burgers and margherita pizza.
Drinks came quite quickly – you get cocktails, beers and house wine. It was fairly quiet when we went due to the weather, so that was perfect for our little group 🙂

What about desserts?
As pictured, doughnut, churros (yum) and cheesecake parfait. All 3 kids got a plate of dessert each which they were very happy about – eventhough they probably only ate 2 bites of each doughnut, leaving the rest for the adults to clean up 😉
Did you say it was family-friendly?
It’s a family-friendly venue, and they welcome kids. There isn’t any specific kid’s entertainment at the moment but hopefully they’ll resume this soon. So if you come with little ones – bring some toys and colouring paper for them to do whilst they’re at the table. Otherwise, pick a table outside if you don’t mind the heat, so they can run in and out of the pools…
Yes, pool and beach access is included!
We left our tables around 3:30pm as the kids were getting restless. And spent the rest of the evening in and out of the pool (adults taking turns with the kids) which was fabulous. The good thing about Riva, it being east-facing is that the sun is gone by around 4pm which means it is mostly shaded by then. Otherwise, the kid’s pool is shaded so you can get in there earlier as well 😉
The cool part?
That we could bring all the drinks – entire bucket of unopened beers to the poolside tables to carry on. So that’s the ‘after-brunch’ drinks for you 😉
Overall thoughts?
For 399 AED, I would personally say it is a little pricey for what you get as the food is nothing to report home to. The 50% discount, making it 199 AED is adequate, especially if you do drink. And of course, the pool & beach access is just a plus, particularly over the summer months when all you want to do is stay in the pool to cool down….. 🙂
