What a night! 🙂
Let me introduce you to
the glitz and glamour of Cavalli Club and the spectacular show that we had the opportunity to experience last night.
So the 3 of us got dressed up and booked with Uber (my first time using this service!) to take us to the Fairmont Hotel up SZR. In the last 2 years that we’ve been in Dubai, we’ve never stepped foot into the Fairmont. We’ve seen a lot of photos online of how the place looks like and the people who go there, and we’ve always had this impression that it was just a little too extravagant for us laid-back Kiwis, ha ha (esp for G who just likes to wear t-shirts, shorts and jandals all the time…..). But when I got lucky with their FB comp, plus K was here on hols, we thought – okay, time for G to comb his hair and put on some smart clothes 🙂
It was fairly quiet when we arrived at 9:30 pm. You walk up two flight of stairs and you’re welcomed into what actually feels like a really beautiful, and lavish club, but at the same time it actually felt very cosy. How weird. I actually like it. The hanging light chandeliers are beautiful, it gives the place the grande feel. All I could think about is how they keep it clean though. Just like the hanging butterflies in Dubai Mall, he he.
So for the entry fee, you get unlimited drinks from 9pm-3am. Yeah, I know, 6 hours! 😀
We found ourselves comfortable by the corner bars, and looked through the drinks menu. It was quite impressive (E, you’ll like it!) – extensive cocktail choices – Sex on the Beach (this must be illegal in Dubai?;) ), Cosmo, Daiquiris, Mojitos, Pina Colada, Martinis, Whisky Sours. We started off with those, whilst people started flocking in. It was entertaining just people watching (don’t stare!), or watching the bartenders mixing drinks. I gotta say, the cocktails was really good. You go to brunches and the cocktails are always a hit and miss because you’ve already paid xAED for all-you-can-drink. With Cavalli we felt that every drink was made with detail and very high standards. Just try their pina colada for a start! 🙂
Right around 10:30 pm ( I think).. the show started. It reminded me of Moulin Rouge, minus Nicole Kidman hanging off the ceiling. The girl above was an amazing singer – I was in a happy place. Jazz cabaret style, songs like diamonds are a girl’s best friend 🙂
Soon enough the Lido show started. Gorgeous girls in extravagant outfits. It was as it should be – spectacular. And what a perfect venue for it as well we thought.
Different songs, different outfits with breaks in the middle. Each unique from the other, dazzling all the same.
Later on the evening we started to explore the shot cocktail options. It was fascinating watching him make it (thanks, Mr Bartender). Perfect flatliners (tabasco in between sambuca and tequila), delicious blue kamikazes, and spicy dou dous.
We were quite impressed with security as well who came to K and my aid in one instance, thanks.
We left late, but I gotta say, we had an amazing night out. The setting, the show. And lots of credit to the service, credits to Mr Bartender and security. I highly recommend you check it out if you can, or just go by Cavalli some time.
Just a lil something to add on for WL. We were definitely disappointed with the PR-fail part of the comp, including trying to cover it up by editing the original comp post (and getting it wrong again, lol!) – plus the fact that there was no compensation for taking out the previously agreed dinner. However, I appreciate the phone calls and the attempt to make things work. And hey, we had a fabulous time so thanks 🙂 And we would be back 🙂 Cheers.
