A night in Hotel Bristol, Vienna & Le Meridien, Vienna

Last Eid, G and I did a mini trip to a few spots in Europe. Got pretty lazy after we returned, managed to do two posts which were our highlights 🙂 Sandeman’s, and Salzburg

My brief review on the SPG hotels we stayed in Vienna.

What we liked

Location -From the International Airport, take the CAT that goes every 30 mins. 11 Euros PP OW or 17 Euros PP Return. Get off at Landstrasse – Wien Mitte. Take the metro U4 line to Karlsplatz. Hotel Bristol is literally just, there. The State Opera is literally right in front of it. And you’re in the middle of, everything.

 What we didn’t like

Our Rooms – I was a bit excited that we’ll be staying in this really old hotel with a lot of history. Hmm. We were given a room at a far far far, far end of the hallway and the windows didn’t look out to the city so I got a bit claustrophobic in there 🙁 Got a bit scared actually, hahaha. If you were to stay here, suggest you ask for the higher floors and windows that looked out.

Location – It was a good spot as well, and it’s close to the markets which we highly recommend. Maybe 5-10 minutes walk to the State Opera.

Service – I remember the concierge called up to us as we were dragging our luggages up the road towards the hotel. Super 🙂

New – You don’t get a lot of ‘new’ in Europe. So if you’re a bit tired of the old stuff, pick this one. There’s an art gallery incorporated within the hotel, lots of art pieces within the lobby and around. I liked it.

Extras – Tea and coffee provided. Fruits too. All drinks in the mini bar was complimentary. This was quite wow for us at this point (last night before flying home to Dubai) – as we stayed in Le Meridien Munich the night before, and there was no coffee/tea provided. I called housekeeping and they asked me to order room service. C’mon SPG, you can do better than that!

Rooms – Beds weren’t the biggest, but it was enough. Everything else made up for that.

So, which would I stay if I returned? Haha, it’s a bit obvious ay. I mean, every now and then, we like old. But when it’s old borderline creepy, we’ll choose something a bit more, modern 🙂 I think next time we pick rooms, I need to tell them – please give me windows that has sunlight. So, important!

And to end the post, and go to bed because I’ve got work tomorrow, here’s a snapshot of the markets on a glorious day 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
