Celebrating Earth Day : The Green Planet Dubai hosts a week-long of nature-led experiences

With Earth Day coming up on the 22nd of April, The Green Planet Dubai have put together a week-long programme of nature-led experiences, bringing families face-to-face with a living rainforest in the heart of the city. We sent Dubai resident, Chirag and his family over to review the experience.

Here’s Chirag’s experience at The Green Planet, at the beginning of the week-long Earth Day activation.

Took the kids to The Green Planet Dubai for their Earth Day celebrations and honestly – we were not prepared for it!

Four floors of actual tropical rainforest inside a biodome at City Walk. 3,000 plants and animals living in there. Lemurs just vibing. Tiny monkeys doing jumping from wall to wall. Flying foxes hanging overhead. Exotic colourful birds everywhere. And yes – we touched a baby snake. The kids were significantly braver than me on that one. What got me though was just how stunning it is inside. A full tropical rainforest, right in the middle of the city. Kids couldn’t get enough and time flew by!

Then came the anaconda…. that was a whole moment.

The Earth Day programme is genuinely well put together. The kids started off with a hands-on seed planting, ran through eco games with some fun Q&A for the kids, and sat in on a session about ecosystems and biodiversity. Real learning, not the boring kind. There’s even a brand new Eco Ranger Mission – a QR-based game where you explore rainforest animal facts as you walk through. The kids were sprinting between stops.
