Have you ever been to a ‘Wine and Cheese Night’ here in Dubai? I was thinking if I should make it a ‘date night’ with the husband but when I brought up the idea – he was…… let’s put it this way ‘not too excited’, ha ha. Decision made…..girl’s night out it was – and off we went to the Emirates Golf Club to review Jones the Grocer’s Wine and Cheese Friday’s.
What to expect?
The venue
For the winter season – everything is happening outdoors at Jones. Or at least everyone wants to sit there – for the vibe, the music, and the views of the Dubai Marina and beyond. We had a table to the corner, with a good view of the stage. There was a jazz duo – one on keyboard and one on the guitar. There were big groups as well as a few couples. I’m glad to see that there are other men out there who appreciates a wine and cheese night.

What do you get, for the Wine and Cheese Night?
Well – let’s start with the obvious. The team will bring a cheeseboard for each person – a combination of cheeses, fruit and nuts. There is special wine menu for the evening – which we did appreciate, with a proper description as to where it’s from, and how it should taste. Have a look at the wine menu that we got that evening.
What else is included in the Wine and Cheese Night?
The hilarious thing about that evening was that we did not realise we could access the buffet to the corner with our package – which was the basic 199 AED package.
For some reason I had the impression that that was only available for those who upgraded to the meats platter option. So for the rest of the evening, four of us lovely ladies sat there with that one cheese platter and a few glasses of wine. Did we have a good evening? Absolutely. But had we known…. we could have this (see below)
There was a selection of marinated olives, sundried tomatoes, hummus, foccacia and baby potatoes….
There was even a cheese fondue that evening, and one some nights – there will be a raclette station as well.
If I did bring my husband along that evening and he was sitting there with one cheese platter – he would never come back out with me for a Wine and Cheese Night, haha.
Is there a Meat Platter option?
You can also choose to upgrade to get a Cured Meat Platter which changes on a weekly basis – priced at 249 AED (50 AED upgrade). On the evening that we went, they were serving veal prociutto and beef lomo (tenderloin).
Overall Thoughts
We laughed about it afterwards – all the food that we had missed. But to be fair – it was still such a nice spot to spend with the girls. Good wine, a cheese platter, nice jazz music and cool wind in your hair. There’s so much to do in the winter time here in Dubai and I do feel Jones the Grocer at Emirates Golf Club is such a perfect spot to spend for a lazy evening.
