I remember our first visit to Senor Pico back when they opened up – early 2021. There were no sunbeds on the sand – and Marriott Resort had not yet been built. Senor Pico has gone a long way since – becoming many families’ favourite go-to spot at Palm West Beach. Have you been? Why not?

Well, here’s a piece on what to expect should you decide to take the kids over one day. I hope you do 🙂

To start – let’s have a peek of the venue when it first opened up 3 years ago.

They have since extended the outdoor terrace to accommodate more guests. There are additional toilets to the other side, plus the beach area has sunbeds dotted throughout for those who would like spend the day there. It’s busy, busy, busy for Senor Pico 😉

Where exactly is Senor Pico? How do we get there?

Senor Pico is located on the boardwalk of Palm West Beach, right in front of Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah Dubai.

If you are driving – you can get complimentary valet at Marriott. Just remember to get your valet ticket validated before you leave Senor Pico! Taking the taxi? Tell them to drop you off at Marriott as well.

What is the menu at Senor Pico like?

Senor Pico serves – what they call Cal-Mex, a fusion of California cuisine and Mexican-style cooking. A lot of their food is easy for sharing – which also makes it a family-favourite.

There’s their famous nachos for 65 AED – tortilla chips piled high with guacamole. My kids just eats the tortilla chips, leaving all the guacamole (the good stuff) to us adults – haha.

They have a variety of salads and ceviche from 60-75 AED, and trio of tacos for around 65-70 AED AED. We always get their beef barbacoa nachos – which I do recommend. Barbacoa beef marinated in 15 spices for over 48 hours topped with pickled cabbage, coriander and jalapeno – so tasty. If you’re not a fan of coriander (or jalapenos) – just let them know 😉

You can’t come to a mexican spot and not order quesadillas! We like to stick to the classic chicken quesadilla (67 AED) – which the kids love nibbling on. Yes – I do admit, it is on the pricier side when it comes to mexican food – but don’t worry – they do have some offers …. keep reading! 😉

If you want something bigger – they do have mains like grilled loco chicken, lamb birria and duck carnitas. We went for their fajitas – which again is easily shared with the family. It’s served with salsa, sour cream, pico de gallo, mexican rice – all to be put together in a corn tortilla.

Is Senor Pico licensed?

Yes – Senor Pico is licensed. You gotta have a margarita with your nachos, when you’re at the beach, right? 🙂 Alcoholic drinks are served after 12pm, so don’t be cheeky and ask for one when you’re at the sunbed in the morning.

I gotta warn you though, their drinks are pretty strong. Okay sure it comes with the price tag – for 48AED for a classic margarita – which is more a less a ‘Palm Dubai’ standard. At least it does come served in a proper glass, with salt on the brim, and a slice of lime wedged atop. Perfect for sundowners, as they say 😉

Can kids’ use the beach, when you are dining at Senor Pico?

Pick a table on their outdoor terrace and yes – your kids are more than welcome to sit on the sand and dig for treasures. You won’t find too much I assure you – but hey, at least they are kept busy while you have a chat with your other half, or your friends.

There is also an on-ground water fountain that the kids will love running through in the summer months – so bring a change of clothes!

What are the beach day pass rates, at Senor Pico if you want to use the sunbed?

Should you decide to spend the afternoon on the sunbed, you will need to get a beach day pass from Senor Pico. The good thing is it is fully redeemable with F&B.

Currently – as of April 2024, the beach day pass rates for Senor Pico are as follows, fully redeemable in F&B :

• Monday to Wednesdays – 150 AED per adult | 75 AED per child
• Thursday to Sundays – 250 AED per adult | 125 AED per child

Senor Pico has a ‘Taco Tuesdays’ – where you can get various Taco offers :

• Unlimited tacos – 99 AED
• Unlimited tacos & soft drinks – 120 AED
• Unlimited tacos & margaritas – 220 AED
• Unlimited tacos & house drinks – 299 AED

Is that a good enough reason for you to pop over to Senor Pico – tomorrow? 🙂 C’mon – take the kids there. They’ll love it. You’ll be happy with a margarita in hand while they run around on the sand.
