If you are planning a Jebel Jais road trip – a stopover for a bite at 1484 by Puro has to be added to your itenary. I mean, it is afterall, the highest restaurant in the United Arab Emirates. Gotta tick this one off the bucket list, right? 🙂
Here’s what to expect at 1484 by Puro.
Where is 1484 by Puro?
1484 by Puro is located at……… 1484m above sea level, at the top of Jebel Jais (Didn’t know that, did you? 🙂 ).
Based on our trip there, it’s the highest point you can go by car. There is actually a sign that says private access only beyond that – and FYI if you ‘accidentally’ drive further the security guy will actually get you to turn around, haha.

Do you have to make a booking at 1484 by Puro?
Yes! You have to make a booking on 1484 by Puro’s website.
There is a checkpoint after you pass Jais Sledder en route to the restaurant. They initially couldn’t find my booking and didn’t let us pass – so I can confirm that they are strict!

How’s 1484 by Puro like?
To be honest, based on the few videos I had seen of the restaurant – I thought it was much bigger. Rest assured – it is still a lovely space and absolutely stellar views of the Hajar mountains from the terrace.

We dined, mid January – and it was quite cold but I highly recommend you slap on loads of sunscreen and you’ll need it, especially if you’re planning to sit in the terrace.
How’s the menu like?
We got there for lunch, and after two rounds of the Jais Sledder – so was absolutely famished. I’m sure the adrenaline high had a little something to do with it 🙂
Surprised to see that the prices at 1484 by Puro were fairly reasonable – considering the whole ‘touristy’ aspect of it, being the ‘highest restaurant in UAE’ and all. I highly recommend their Korean Fried Chicken (70AED) – crispy boneless chicken with sweet and spicy korean sauce. Portions were generous, and we shared it between all of us.

Burgers are circa 65 AED, and yes – that includes fries. You can’t even get that price in a beachside joint at the Palm Jumeirah these days. If you’re properly hungry and need some meat, you can get a decent Teriyaki Steak for 95 AED. Another personal recommendation – their Thai Salad with Prawns. Bit of tanginess from the mango, spice from the chilli flakes, crunchiness from the greens – and all-round goodness from prawns.
As for drinks, a latte is 25 AED – pretty standard in Dubai these days. They could have easily gone away with 28 AED or more – so thank you very much Ras al Khaimah for providing reasonably-priced F&B for us Dubai residents who like to explore 😉

Can you bring kids to 1484 by Puro?
Yes – kids are very much welcomed. They do have a kids menu if you wish to order from there – with chicken tenders, mac and cheese, fish and chips and more – circa 55 AED.

Is 1484 by Puro, licensed?
You’ll be happy to know that they do serve cheeky adult drinks at 1484 by Puro.
A glass of wine is around 45-50 AED, and a prosesco for 50 AED. A drink with a view, at the top of the mountain, in the highest restaurant in UAE. Perfect before, or maybe after, a series of adrenaline-fueled activities at Jais Adventure Park, don’t you think? 🙂

Is there anything else to do around 1484 by Puro?
The check-in counter for Jais Sky Tour is in the same building at 1484 by Puro. I highly recommend you add that to your bucket list. Have a read through our experience of Jais Sky Tour, to get an idea what to expect – and why you should give it a go!

You can also watch the Jais Sledder from the top as it zips down the mountain. Do note that you will have to drive back down the mountain to actually do the sledder. Have a peek at our video of Jais Sledder.

The world’s longest zipline – Jebel Jais Flight can be done from here as well. We didn’t do this, this trip. Maybe next time?

Alas, the views from 1484 by Puro is absolutely breathtaking. We came back here after Jais Sky Tour and did a mini trek to the top of the lookout point at sunset. Beautiful and worth those extra steps, especially for those of you who are lazy walkers!
Overall Thoughts
We had a really nice lunch with the family at 1484 by Puro. Good food and stellar views of the Hajar Mountain range – something you really cannot get in Dubai, so it’s well worth a visit. Happy to see reasonable prices, which does make us want to return again – another day 😉 Take the family to 1484 by Puro soon – especially while the weather is cool!
