Doubletree by Hilton in Jumeirah Beach has reopened their pool area, and pool bar Areia in October 2023. It had always been a family favourite – the shaded lawn area, the beautiful infinity pool, and course – the convenient location being at the heart of Jumeirah Beach Residence area.
We popped over in October to see what they had done throughout the summer months when it was closed for refurbishments. Here’s a first look of Doubletree’s new pool area (that is, if you haven’t been there already!) 🙂
A little reintroduction.
Where is Doubletree by Hilton JBR?
In case you haven’t been there, Doubletree is located at the far end of JBR, in between Address Beach Resort and Sheraton JBR.
If you were taking Sheikh Zayed Road, you would likely take the last JBR exit onto Garn al Sabkha Road which is infamous for its unfortunate, and horrendous, traffic jams. I have no secret tips to beat this traffic, haha! You just gotta get through it.
As a long-term Dubai Marina resident, all I can say is – try not to come during peak hour traffic. Mornings are not too bad. Doubletree’s Pool and Beach access starts from 9am, which is nice and early! So come then, or come earlier – as you can still use the beach before 9am.

How is Doubletree’s New Pool Area like?
The infinity pool itself still takes up the same area, with a few extra touches. There are new features at the front, with water trickling down – giving it a waterfall feel. The pool bar Areia is completely refurbished – channeling laid-back vibes, with vibrant and bright colours.

The toddler pool is now extended, and completely enclosed with a glass balustrade. There are water buckets to add to the fun, and a bigger space means more kids can now play safely in a larger area.

For those who remember – the shallow water strip in front of the infinity pool is no longer there. My little boy used to love running around there! It’s okay – at least he’s got more space to play in the toddler pool now.
How is Doubletree JBR’s Beach Area?
There are no changes to Doubletree’s beach area.
It’s lovely in the morning, as part of the beach is in the shade, cheers to Address Beach Resort blocking the sun behind it. We got there around 8:30am and spent sometime at the beach. Nice, and quiet.
The sun sets beyond JBR beach – and you can watch the sky turn orange, to red, as the ball of sun drops down. It’s beautiful.

What is Areia Beach Bar and Grilll’s New Pool Menu like?
Areia Beach Bar and Grill has introduced a new menu, along with the reopening.
There’s sandwiches and burgers around 75 AED. The Katsu Chicken Burger is a definite must-try, served with crumbed chicken, citrus sesame coleslaw and kewpie lime mayo. All served with fries or quinoa cabbage slaw, if you prefer something healthier.
I would also recommend the teriyaki chicken bowl – with lots of edamame beans, fresh avocado with ginger citrus dressing (and much more). Salads are circa 65 AED.
There’s starters if you prefer something small, guacamole smash to tempura shrimp bites. They do have a kids menu for 45 AED, with the likes of cheese burger, napolitano pasta, chicken bites and margherita pizza, of course.
Note that there are discounts at Areia with Entertainer, as well as Privilee.

Time to revisit Doubletree Hilton at JBR
If you’re thinking of doing a pool day with the kids, give Doubletree a try. It’s nice if you prefer somewhere with lots of lawn area for them to run around in, plus it’s good if you also prefer more shade for sunbeds by the pool, as well as the beach area, for the kids. Have a look at our piece on ‘Dubai Resort Pools that are close to the building,’ for more on this.
It’s right at the heart of JBR, so bring the scooters along! You can take them for a whiz along the boardwalk towards JBR or across the bridge to Bluewaters after 😉
