Backyard Brunch @ Bridgewater Tavern, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai

Last weekend we drove up to the JW Marriott Marquis to meet a few friends for brunch – this time at the Bridgewater Tavern. It would be our first time there, though we have been to numerous other restaurants in the hotel over the years. Backyard Brunch it was called, and supposedly family-friendly too with activities for the little ones, plus they had a live band. A lot of boxes checked in this one 😉

So, how was the Backyard Brunch with family and friends?

Bridgewater where?

The restaurant is on the Ground Floor of the JW Marriott Marquis. As you walk in, keep left and walk pass the business lounge, all the way to the end. The brunch is held in their outdoor terrace, which is literally right by the Dubai Canal boardwalk.

How’s the vibe?

It’s nice to sit outdoors, listen to the band play and catch up with friends while your little ones are entertained within eyesight. There were many adults-only groups on high tables, so it kind of felt like we were at one of those brunches for a change.

Also – note that the large tables are separated by rows of plants so it felt very private – like you were at your own little garden party. It was actually, surprisingly – quite nice.

There is a live duo band – the lead guitarist is absolutely ‘insane’ on the guitar. Stole this comment from a fellow local musician, haha. We also spotted another fellow local musician who was there for the brunch with his family – that’s when you know the band is good 😉

What do you get for food?

Let’s let the photos do the talking. Everything is serve to table – which has become a norm these days, post-covid. You get sliders, wings, and lots of meat for mains. Sausages, beef short ribs (yummm), steak, corn, and more. There is also a separate kid’s menu where you can order the usual kids favourites for the little ones.

What sort of entertainment is there for kids?

There is an area set up with attendants (2, at the time of our visit). Slime making, face and hand painting and lots of arts and crafts. The overall space at Bridgewater’s outdoor terrace is not big, so I would say you would be able to see your little one wherever you are sat. Unless they decide to hide from you, of course 🙂

Based on the sort of entertainment – it’s probably suited for ages 6 and under. Have a look at ou r reel for a better capture of the activities.

Within the tavern’s indoor area they do have a foosball table and billiards though we did not use it during our time, plus our kids are small. Go ahead and ask them if your bigger kids can use them 🙂

Overall Thoughts.

Take the kids to Bridgewater for a very chilled Friday brunch, sitting outdoors by the Dubai canal . A good one if the little ones are happily entertained doing arts and crafts, face painting and slime making – so you can hang out with friends and family over BBQ and lots of drinks. Stay until sunset, go for a stroll along the canal afterwards if you wish. It’s nice – this time of the year, isn’t it?
