I wanted to come back to The Pointe again, after such a nice morning spent at the beginning of the week at that instagrammable cafe (that is so busy now…). Bit of googling around landed me here, where I saw La Brioche – a familiar name, one of our casual go-tos after shopping in Ibn Battuta Mall. I rang to check and it was noted that the breakfast is not redeemable with the Entertainer, however very adequately priced – around 45-60 aed for a breakfast meal including orange juice, and coffee. Good for all of us 😉
What a surprise as I was pushing the buggy along the boardwalk, to find that it was next to that cafe we were just at at the beginning of the week. Same view, similar ambience if you were sitting outside – just different cushions, different furniture 🙂

How was breakfast? Their eggs benedict / english breakfast combo was pretty decent. Asked for medium and my eggs came perfect, slightly cooked on the outside and runny in the inside. We were the first ones there at 9:30am, therefore had no issues with service. The team was good to ask if we wanted our coffees first – yes please 😉 I would mention that the cafe did get quite busy afterwards (and I actually returned for lunch many hours later and had no issues with service either..)
It does make me wonder how one cafe can charge almost half the price of the other and still do very well – or at least appears to. Speaking to the staff, La Brioche is ran by Ah Ahlia Group – who also produce all the ingredients in-house. That means they don’t get it from suppliers, which is possibly how it is so adequately priced. Food pricing in UAE … that deserves a separate discussion altogether, one I’ll leave for the experts.
On Labrioche – I’ll quite happily return for breakfast again, and is somewhere I recommend if you’re looking for a very reasonably priced spot for food with the family, overlooking The Pointe fountains. The kids can scooter right in front of you, scare chase the dogs. And maybe if I want a prettier and more expensive dish, I’ll go to that one next door 😉
