So mum arrived on Friday, and with the little girl due on Monday I figured, why not book in a nice afternoon tea at St Regis Dubai since there was a 241 from Timeout Dubai (click here). A little risky you may say – Little S did wait though till the actual day 😉
For 180 AED for two, The St Regis Afternoon Tea is similar in price with that of the Mina A’Salam Afternoon Tea (Al Samar Lounge), and slightly cheaper than that of the Al Qasr Afternoon Tea (Al Fayrooz Lounge – click here for my previous review) – i.e comparing afternoon tea with 241 deals 🙂 Was it good? Do I recommend it? 🙂
Just so you know what you get –

Food : All of the above comes on one pretty St Regis tier. The scones came in hot, delicious, freshly baked as they say. As far as sandwiches go, mum and I didn’t find any that was exceptional – I tried every one of them, well actually just half of each as there were plentiful. The sweets I liked – small portions but enough to leave a smile on your face at each bite – the white chocolate and lime madeleine cake, the fruit tart, and mango coconut cake were my favourites.
Tea : For tea, you get a massive selection – where they wheel it over and you get to point, they open, you smell – he he it’s all part of the fun. I had the Bali – an aromatic blend of Sencha and Jasmine tea infused with flower petals, and mum had had the L’Oriental – Sencha Green Tea blended with passion fruit, peach and strawberry. Unfortunately you only get to choose one and stick to it for the rest of the evening, whereas I was hoping to switch to coffee or something else after two hours in.
Ambience : Except for Sundays, there will be a live pianist apparently – so it was fairly quiet when we went. Beautiful setting though as you can see. I remember wanting to come back for afternoon tea after going to The Manor for brunch (click here for my previous review on it). I can see it being a popular spot for baby showers 🙂 Tip : I would recommend you go there on other days when music is on.
Reservations : Before I forget – reservations were much better this time round. I emailed, it was booked, done. The only minor bit was being told incorrectly that I didn’t have to print out the voucher, but no drama as they just asked me to email it across after. Tip : Just print and bring it on the day!
Overall, it was a lovely afternoon with mum. The staff was extra courteous, possibly because I looked like I was about to pop, or maybe it’s just the St Regis style to take good care of their guests 🙂 The afternoon tea spread was alright – blame it on my pregnant taste buds – maybe I’ll come back again in a few weeks with Little S anf friends? 😉

Hey Jennifer!
There’s no St Regis in the marina but there are other afternoon tea options in this area if you’re interested 🙂 Check out the afternoon tea at Rhodes W1 in Grosvenor House Hotel – https://liloneoftheashes.com/2015/02/07/afternoon-tea-rhodes-w1/, or otherwise the one in Kambaa Lounge in The Address Hotels – https://liloneoftheashes.com/2014/02/26/afternoon-tea-kambaa-the-address-dubai-marina/
Good luck with the treatment! 🙂
