Friday Brunch @ Nosh, Movenpick JLT

Dear John,

I would like to apologize again for my friend, who really needs to be controlled when taken out to public. He is getting married next week so that might explain the inappropriate behaviour. Nonetheless, we are very grateful for your excellent attitude last night, and for taking care of us 🙂

Yours sincerely, The overly eager 5 who arrived at 6:15pm before brunch started, last night

*********

Hehehe. Another great evening brunch. This time in Movenpick JLT, the newly opened hotel in Cluster A. Cobone had a deal on – 110AED for the standard package, add-on 100AED upon arrival for alcoholic beverages. Our non-drinking friends also used the Entertainer Dubai 2 for 1 voucher which worked better for them for the standard package – 190AED for 2. Anyways, stats aside, you get the gist. It was a good deal 😀

Why we liked it ?

Great spread. It was larger than we had expected!

20140418_183655There was a station for beef + yorkshire pudding, arabic, chinese (we were at Latitude just the night before and honestly thought the chinese spread here was much much better, sorry JBH!), japanese (sushi, sashimi (salmon and tuna!), all-you-can-drink sake, he he), and as expected, the appetisers, cold dishes.

Favourite dishes ?

The salmon sashimi last night was very fresh, and thinly sliced. Yum. Loved the sweet and sour chicken was good, as with the spicy fish. I’ve never been a big fan of yorkshire puddings but last night’s was really good!

Service ?

John and Ananta were the ones who took care of us, with a few others around. Service was generally OK. Lots of staff and very friendly 🙂 However, we did continuously need to ask for top-ups, something that could maybe need a bit more improvement. Not sure if it was because we were seated somewhat in the corner.

How was the drinks?

My sparkling wine kept me happy 🙂 For boys, you only get Budweisers so if you’re picky for beers, you’ll just have to make do. They do do hard liquor mixers – like rum and coke, etc, but no specific cocktails to order. However, there’s a sangria station which was really good. And, self-service sake at the japanese area (waves to Leslie!). And and! A cosmo and pina colada slushy self-service bar area that was superb hehehe!

Atmosphere?

Nothing spectacular, but we were a happy group of 5 anyways. There is a bar downstairs that you could head to afterwards (UBK I think?) – somewhere we’ll check out next time 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
