Bocas Del Toro Day 3 & 4 – Tropical Suites, Ultimo Refugio & a lot of sun

We checked out of Punta on the third day, and got dropped off at Tropical Suites ( Thanks Alessandro!) located in the centre of Bocas Town. Glad we chose it ay, cheers to Tripadvisor’s recommendation – it was really good for Bocas standards. Clean, spacious, and they gifted us a bottle of champagne as well, aww. Thank you so much. To Chip to took care of the reservation in the early days, to Mayra as well.

We spent the rest of the day on a boat cruise, passing by Dolphin Bay to Coral Cay. Snorkelled and got sunburnt along the way. We were dropped for 2 hours in Zapatilla Cay which is beautiful.

Cracked open coconuts to eat. Snorkelled some more. Then had lunch at Coral Cay Restaurant before another snorkelling session (this was the best spot, the corals were so colourful!). I think we got home around 6pm and was just plain exhausted and black as hell. 25USD by the way, it’s all around the same price.

Highlight of the evening was definitely dining at El Ultimo Refugio, and this I found from intense research – tripadvisor, blog posts, etc. Again, another spot definitely worth checking out. Something I wish Dubai had more ay – just a simple, small bar with good food and good music. Loved the atmosphere, there was a live acoustic guitarist who played all the classics, including ‘And then I got high’, ha ha. How appropriate, especially in Bocas, lol.

Here are a few photos for you to see why I loved it, cheers to the really beautiful host, sorry I didn’t get your name 🙂 All we could remember was that she was a strikingly attractive blonde with a black butterfly back singlet.

We left quite late after finishing our bottle of wine, and a few more pina coladas 🙂 You cannot go to an island not have a pina colada!

Just to end the post, here’s a few snapshots of Bocas Town. Thus ends my love affair with this little island in the Caribbean. Till next time ~

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
