Fine dining @ Kitchen 45, Grosvenor House Dubai

Caviar. Hee hee, our first time, ever 🙂 What’s a better place to have it than at the top floor of Grosvenor House Hotel in the Marina.

Last night, G and I were invited to a dinner-do at Kitchen 45, compliments of the raffle that they do every Ladies night at Embassy. The luck’s just going around these days, ha!

We’ve been to Sloane’s, and Embassy a few times now but we’ve never popped upstairs. As you come out of the lifts, you pass a long white table for group reservations and boy does that area look nice. Hmm, maybe for my birthday? 🙂

Moving on, we got to our spot and the view from there, just as is from Embassy is beautiful. You’re facing north towards Al Sufouh Road, so you get the stream of cars,  with Princess Tower’s orange lighting in the distance. Next time we come back, we’ll have to try catch the sunset.

The menu was extensive and quite impressive really. We started with a bottle of Penfold’s Shiraz Cabernet from Koonunga Hill, Western Australia. I remember having quite a few of Penfold’s when I was in Perth 🙂 Good times. I’m normally not a big fan of dry Shiraz but this blend was really smooth and very easy to drink. I highly recommend it.

I’ll let the photos do the talking for the rest of the food 🙂 It was a serious complete three course meal, and we were there from 7:30p.m till 11p.m. Amazing food. If you’re stuck for choices, try the Prawn Cocktail for starters. G had ‘Plancha of Cuttlefish, Roasted Salsify & Curried Ink Sauce’ and the cuttlefish was cooked so well it felt like it was just melting in your mouth. Mmm 🙂

For mains, you’re spoilt for choices really. G had the Caspian Sea Caviar and Scallops cooked over fettucini. J and I ordered the Seabass ( mm..) and P had the pan-fried wild Turbot. (Before I came to Kitchen 45 I thought Turbot was a robot name)

We finished off the night with desert orders that ranged from Pear and Chestnut tarte, Chocolate Fondant, and Fruit berries sorbet. I just ordered the ‘Desert platter’ which had a little bit of everything hee hee, complimented with a pot of herbal tea.

Ultimate Summer Colour Trends Sale

What a way to start the week ay? 🙂

I also just found out that on Blue Mondays you actually get a special choice of 3-course meal for 200AED at Kitchen 45. Good deal I’ll say – go try it out 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
