Paloma Cocktail Masterclass @ Jones the Grocer, Emirates Golf Club : Our Review

Have you ever been to a cocktail masterclass here in Dubai? Did you know that Jones the Grocer in Emirates Golf Club does it once a month?

Here’s how our Paloma Cocktail Masterclass went, and all you need to know.

Our Experience & Thoughts

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a proper cocktail masterclass. Of course – I’ve sat on the other side of the bar and watched many a bartender mix drinks over the years, but to actually sit through a class and learn about the origins of the alcohol, and to properly make my own drink – this, would be my very first time. And what’s a better place than good ol’ Jones the Grocer in Emirates Golf Club.

Mum was in town so I figured – why not bring her along. The very charming and knowledgeable Zander Boshoff from Pernod Ricard was our host for the evening, and the liquor for that session was Altos Tequila. We sat like good students do, and listened as he talked through the history of tequila, and introduced us to the art of cocktail making.

Throughout the evening, we made four variations of Paloma cocktails. We carefully measured and poured various juices – lime, grapefruit & tomato amongst others. We muddled strawberries. We scooped ice – a lot of it. It was interactive and yes – dare I say, very fun. The best bit? You get to drink all your creations. Four cocktails, which has a shot of tequila in each drink. So that’s four shots over a span of approximately 90 minutes. Not too bad, right?

If you’re looking for a fun evening for a date night, or something different to do with friends – consider signing up for a Cocktail Masterclass. It’s definitely a unique experience, plus it is quite social as you’ll get to chat with others on the table too. Something interactive and educational for a change.
