Rainforest Spa & Afternoon Tea @ Banyan Tree Dubai : The Perfect Afternoon Escape

Feb 2026 Update : This specific combo offer is no longer running. Please see banyantree.com for current offers

Do you enjoy afternoon tea? What about pairing it with a session in a bespoke spa? Banyan Tree Dubai has launched a new offer this winter season called the ‘Rainforest & Tea Ritual’ – and you just might want to book this in before it goes!

Here’s all you need to know about the new Rainforest & Tea Ritual.

Afternoon Tea at Tocha

The New Afternoon Tea Tree

Inspired by Banyan Tree’s Asian philosophy – Tocha has very recently introduced a new stand for the afternoon tea experience. You think you have seen it all – and here comes Tocha’s very own bonsai tree stand.

It is much bigger than we had anticipated, and you will be sharing a stand between two pax. No, you don’t get to take the tree home. No, the tree is not real. Yes, they do clean it after each experience.

The Outdoor Terrace

Please make the most of the winter season and pick a spot in Tocha’s outdoor terrace. We dined, mid January and the weather just perfect. Blue skies ahead and the winter sun peeking over the cotton candy clouds.

As per Tocha’s ritual – you start off with a welcome drink while you go through their menu and decide which Afternoon Tea spread you would like to go for.

In addition to their classic Japanese Afternoon spread – they now have an International Afternoon tea option. Having tried their Japanese spread before (and loved it) – we decided to go for the same. I mean c’mon – you are in a Japanese teahouse. I will just secretly judge you if you went for the International option. Interesting selection though – as they have infused japanese flavours with this set – like tamago & scallion brioche ( japanese-style omelet ), teriyaki wagyu sando ( wagyu beef sandwiches) and of course, scones.

The Japanese Afternoon Tea Spread

On the other hand – the japanese afternoon tea spread is a selection of authentic Japanese-inspired sweets and savouries. Familiar items to the general crowd would be their matcha roll cake – made out of soft sponge cake with matcha cream and red bean paste in the middle. Everyone would know what a Japanese Cheesecake is – and you’ll find that here.

We scooped up the hoji tea pudding from its little white bowls – which had just the right amount of added sweetness from the caramel. We nibbled on the red bean jelly cake, attempted to pull apart cookies with salted caramel filling in one, and matcha in the other. Because well – how else do you eat cookies with fillings. Again – we discussed the raspberry filling in the chocolate mochi and how we preffered something lighter, and then proceeded to dissect the kinako (roasted soya).

Our absolute favourites would be Tocha’s Japanese savoury options. Still served in the same beautiful japanese tray, you’ll find four carefully prepared bite-size savouries.

There’s chawan mushi ( steamed egg with edamame paste ), beef sando with teriyaki sauce, and cured beetroot salmon on crispy nori pearl chips. Do not be silly like us and attempt to take the salmon apart from the nori (seaweed) chips. Pick it up with your chopsticks and eat it whole.

Rainforest Spa Experience

Onto the next part of the experience. Guests can now opt to add-on 60-minutes in Banyan Tree’s Rainforest Room before, or after your afternoon tea session.

In most hotels – this room is what is called their ‘spa facilities’ area. The big difference at Banyan is that the Rainforest Room is booked out completely for you so it’s private. 60-minutes – just for you (and your friend/husband/wife).

There is a jacuzzi and a hydrotherapy pool, plus a steam and sauna room.

Unique to Banyan Spa – there’s also a Rainforest Trail, where you walk through a series of showers overhead, of different intensities and temperature.

An Afternoon of Indulgence in Banyan Tree

Looking for a relaxing afternoon to spend with a friend, or maybe your husband? Consider the Rainforest & Tea Ritual. Note that currently, the Afternoon Tea at Tocha is 180 AED per person including unlimited tea & coffee, and the 60-minute Rainforest Experience is priced at 370 AED per person, amounting to 555 AED in total. The current Rainforest & Tea Ritual at 475 AED per person is definitely a deal to take advantage of. With the savings, you might as well end the day with an extra glass ( or two ) of sparkling wine at sunset? 🙂

Disclosure : We were guests of Banyan Tree to review the Afternoon Tea experience.
