The Banyan Brunch Club @ Alizee : Sunday Family Brunch in Bluewaters

Are you looking for a relaxed family-friendly brunch, with a more refined menu, table service, but still has something to keep the little ones entertained? If you picked a table that wasn’t within sight of their kids room – it could quite easily pass as a chic adults brunch.

Introducing – the Banyan Brunch Club.

Where is The Banyan Brunch Club at?

The Banyan Brunch Club happens every Sunday in Alizee, located on the pool and beach level of Banyan Tree Dubai. Pick a table outdoors on their shaded terrace over the winter months, or under the lush canopies of the trees.

Their live duo plays here, and you’ll also find their Champagne Live Counter situated on the side. Yes – Banyan Brunch Club does have a champagne package, and they serve Tattinger Brut Reserve.

If you prefer to be indoors, by all means do – as it is also closer to the supervised kids room. We’ll get onto that in a bit…. but for now, let’s talk about the main event : The Food.

What is the brunch spread like?

The pastries & desserts are available on the buffet counter in Alizee, whereas everything else is served to table, for sharing. It’s a nice setup, and something a little different to what we’ll usually find at most family brunches in Dubai. Before you sit back and relax, pop into the kids room where the kids’ buffet is set up, so you can very quickly get the kids’ plates filled.

Kids’ Buffet

For the little ones – there’s all the usual favourites. Fish fingers, chicken nuggets and fries, mini sandwiches, pasta and lots of cupcakes and muffins to feast on.

Sharing-Style

If there’s an appropriate time to use the word ‘refined’ – it would be now – describing the Banyan Brunch Club’s menu.

We’re talking a seafood platter on a bed of ice to start – and not just ‘the usual’ ( because aren’t we all spoilt, here in Dubai ). Other than freshly shucked oysters and mussels, there’s red wine vinegar Canadian lobster, seabass crudo, as well as tuna tartare.

Alizee’ regulars would be familiar with a few of their signature dishes – angus beef carpaccio, served with black truffle, as well as their kale and avocado salad (which I absolutely love). Even the kids enjoyed the mushroom flatbread – served with again (yes, you guessed it right), french black truffle.

Save yourself for mains as it’s an absolute feast. There’s black angus beef tenderloin, and butterflied seabass. The latter, we both felt would have been just right without all that sauce, but that’s just us in our boring and healthy foodie phase, haha. Age, y’know.

As if that’s not enough, you’ll find their chef coming around with a lamb roast so they can prep for you right at the table.

Dessert Buffet

Alizee’s dessert selection, much like their mains have been carefully selected and prepared for the brunch. You’ll find their signature giant chocolate cookie, alongside a traditional french dessert the croquembouche. It’s one of those things that’s so pretty you don’t want to touch it – but hey, that’s what it’s for right? These are profiteroles piled into a tall, cone-shaped tower bound together with threads of caramel. I do wonder if the pastry team can prepare these for home parties as it will be an absolute treat with the kids.

And if you’ve got a proper sweet tooth, the team will come by to your table with a crepe live station to prepare it just for you. It’s also a good way to see how much sugar and butter is involved in making this delicious dessert….

What is the Kids Area like? Is there any entertainment?

A big highlight for us – as we were there with all three kids in tow, would be the kids setup. The kids room is accessible from the main dining area of Alizee, so if you picked the right tables you could keep an eye on the little ones while they’re in there.

There were a handful of staff in there to play with the kids – be it sitting with them when they are colouring, to actively play Connect 4 with them, or to simply keep an eye when they were ‘fishing’ miscellanous plastic toys from a little pond.

Families with crawlers would be happy to know that they have a big playmate on the side with toys, so babies can comfortable be on their tummies there if they’re getting a bit restless in their highchairs.

Halfway through the brunch, there’s also a kids’ magic show where they’ll get the little ones to actively participate. My 5 and 7 year old loved it and joined in throughout, right till the very end with all the dancing.

Overall Thoughts

The Banyan Brunch Club is one of those family brunches you do when you prefer a nicer menu, where you can sit down and talk to your friends – and the kids have something to do as well. It’s a different take to the usual family brunch experience, and honestly – we like it. Now that the kids are slightly older – maybe that’s the sort of brunch we’ll start hunting around Dubai for? Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
