Bussola, in the very lush Jumeirah Golf Estates have launched a new brunch every Saturday – Brunchissimo by Bussola. The experience begins with the journey itself. As you drive into the community – you’re surrounded by beautiful lakes, tree-lined streets, the vast golf course and birds all around. You’ll see the residents rolling along the sidewalks in their golf buggy. Imagine – living here. Before you start looking at property prices – why not consider spending an afternoon in their clubhouse over a bite and a few drinks? It’s a little taster of how your afternoons could be. And much cheaper than a mortgage there as well 🙂

Walking in

After parking the car, we walked uphill towards the very grand clubhouse, and into Bussola on the left. You will very likely spend sometime at the photo op just before the restaurant – with the lemon and foliage wall backdrop and chic bicycle up front. There’s also a cheeky floor-standing mirror for yet – more photos, because – why not. You have already spent so much time getting ready for brunch – make-up, hair, picking that perfect brunch outfit. Snap away.

The Venue

The venue was buzzing when we were there. Couples, groups of adults, and a Dj on the decks.

The weather was still a little warm outdoors at 1pm, but when it gets cooler – pick a seat outdoors. It overlooks the golf course – so you get the best views.

Live Stations

For the brunch, there are two live stations : an Affettati Stand serving Italian pork cold cuts with condiments and bread. Then to the other corner, a lovely Caprese live station with your choice of mozzarella or burrata, served with fresh tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Take your pick and the team will prep it for you and serve it to table.

Antipasti

For the rest of the afternoon – sit back and relax, as everything else is brought to table.

There’s beef tartare served in a parmesan shell, with truffle freshly grated on. This dish is a tricky one I feel – as it can sometimes be too rich but we both did feel that at Brunchissio by Bussola – it was just the right portion, and very well-prepared.

There’s oysters on ice ( what’s a Dubai brunch without oysters, these days ), pan-seared tiger prawns and a beetroot carpaccio dish. As we sipped on prosecco and my friend, a mocktail ( yes – of course they have non-alcoholic options too ) – happy to report that we finished it all.

Starters for sharing – Primi

Next up – pizza and pasta, for sharing. It is an Italian restaurant, after all!

We were both quite worried when we saw that they had three pastas and a pizza in the brunch menu. So when the team brought over the dishes – we breathed a big sigh of relief. I do feel that th kitchen team have thought it out well. The portions were perfect, considering how much we had to start with. And maybe, just maybe – they were looking at us – two ladies and went – they’re not gonna want too much carbs today, haha. Good observation, thank you very much.

My favourite dish out of them all? The Risotto Al Funghi – creamy, but not too rich, with a hint of Parmesan and of course – freshly grated truffle. Delicious.

Mains – Secondi

Before the mains were served – the team brought over a palate cleanser – lemon sorbet with prosecco. My kids would have very quickly taken this off my hands – but today, it was just me and my dear friend. No kids, no one trying to steal my food, ha ha.

We both chose the beef fillet that afternoon and it came – again, at the right portion and temperature. Tender, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth beef on a bed of celeriac gorgonzola cream, and veal jus.

Desserts

Just when we thought this was it – the desserts came. We shared the tiramisu and had a nibble of the rest – all served in bite-size, perfect to the end the afternoon.

Overall Thoughts

Consider Brunchissimo by Bussola – if you’re looking for a classy Italian brunch with friends.

There’s a live DJ – so there’s music pumping to set the vibe, but it’s not too loud – so you can have a decent conversation. The place is bright with natural light streaming in, and if you choose a spot outdoors – you are sitting right by the Jumeirah Golf Estates course. For those of you who enjoy your drinks – they have a fab selection – to include Da Luca Prosecco and cocktails such as Limoncello and Aperol Spritz, Garibaldi, and of course – Espresso Martini. Save this for a classy get-together with friends. PS – Families and kids are welcomed, but we highly recommend you do it with the big people!
