Taj Exotica’s Reset Sundays : A Family Lunch with Pool & Beach Access!

Are you looking for a more casual lunch option with the family, where the kids as well as adults have something to do – other than, eat and drink ? Maybe a dip in the pool, afterwards ? Consider Reset Sundays at the Taj Exotica Resort. It’s not the full-on brunch that goes on everywhere else, but it’s got enough bibs and bobs to keep the whole troupe happy.

Here’s what to expect at Reset Sundays.

Where is Roaring Rabbit?

Tucked away through the corridors of the Taj Exotica sits Roaring Rabbit – a British gastropub which, is very much – family-friendly. You’ll find a combination of low tables ( which I dare say it too low for taller people like us ) and comfortable sofa seatings. If you’re there with older kids who won’t fall off a bar stool – feel free to take the high tables.

The decor is inspired by the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland – with every little detail thought through, from the lights with bunny designs, book-shape tabletops, and walls covered in framed bunny images and oversized cards. It’s so cute, though the word best to describe it in Alice’s world would be ‘whimsical’.

What’s included in the Reset Sunday Lunch Menu?

First of all – let me emphasize on the what you get.

Its a ‘Sunday Lunchset menu, so please don’t rock up and expect to see a buffet spread and start complaining. It’s a set menu with a choice of main, three side dishes, a garden salad, sauces and a choice of dessert. We were four adults – and unfortunately everyone went for the same dish so that’s the only one you’ll see in this review. If you do end up going – feel free to tag us on stories , a photo of the roasted chicken breast, or cheese and onion pie. We’ll be interested to see what you thought of it!

Our slow butter roasted sirloin came to the table – thin slices, with sauce to the side. Glad to have carbs and vege to go with it – creamy mash, sauteed spring veggies and charred corn on the cob. I think we all would have liked a bit more meat so would be curious to see what the roasted chicken breast portions are like. Let us know!

The kids could order from the kids menu and as you would expect – the usual favourites – bangers and mash, pasta, chicken nuggets and fries, and margarita pizza. No complaints there. Note that Kids under 6 go free, and it’s 75 AED for Kids 6-12. Not bad right?

What kids activities are there for Reset Sundays?

There was painting set up to the corner so the kids could get straight to it while we were waiting for the food to arrive. Don’t worry – there’s an attendant there to guide them if you want to stay at the table with the adults.

There’s a pool table as well, and screens throughout showing cartoons when we were there. I can imagine it’ll be showing sports during certain matches – so feel free to check directly with Taj if there’s something you want to watch.

Next to the painting area – there’s giant jenga, and darts as well – which kept them busy for a wee bit.

Is there access to the Games Room?

All guests who dine at Roaring Rabbit – be it for Reset Sundays or any other time have complimentary access to Taj’s Games Room next door. Note that this room is not supervised so it’s for older kids, or otherwise you are more than welcome to join in with the younger ones.

There’s foosball, air hockey, Jenga, chess sets and video game stations as well.

Pictured, our two younger ones having a go at chess. Or is that checkers? 🙂

Pool and Beach Access, as well?

That’s not all. Bring your swimstuff as you also get Pool and Beach Access at the Taj. All day long.

Overall Thoughts

Reset Sundays is possibly one of the more reasonably priced Sunday Lunch Offers at the Palm – which comes with activities for the kids, access to their Games Room and Pool & Beach Access. I mean – it’s 75 AED for Kids 6-12 and they get lunch, included. It’s a bargain right? Just check the Reset Sundays Menu before you go – so you know what food to expect. It’s simple. And if that works and you’re happy to pay 149 AED for the Soft package – go for it. The House Package (2-hours drinks) is 299 AED, but if you book online – you get a 20% discount, which works out to be about 240 AED per person. You gotta admit – it’s a good price.
