If you’re looking for a chilled out BBQ lunch option with the kids in the weekend – take the family over to Jones the Grocer in JBR. This ones’ in Delta Hotels by Marriott in Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Here’s what to expect at their family BBQ – also called ‘Chillin’ and Grillin’

How do we get to Jones the Grocer in JBR?

If you’re driving, head into the Bahar parking from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street – also known to the long-time Dubai residents as Al Sufouh Road. The security guy will then direct you to self-park in the designated parking slots for Delta Hotels by Marriott.

If you live in the neighbourhood, Jones is located on the Plaza level of Bahar 7. Walk over, or otherwise take the tram. Get off at JBR1 Tram station and it’s a short walk over to Jones.

What does the Family BBQ at Jones include?

The name pretty much sums it up completely – an afternoon of chillin’ and grillin’ 🙂

There is a BBQ station set up outside Jones, and you can inform the team what meat and vegetables you would like. They grill it to your taste, and they bring it all to your table.

Can’t be bothered choosing what to eat? Just tell them to prepare a BBQ platter for you!

There’s grass-fed ribeye, grilled chicken with lemongrass and mint, and prawn skewers, deliciously marinated with peri-peri sauce. For the fish-lovers, there’s salmon with asparagus, wrapped up in a banana leaf. Tastes absolutely amazing after it’s been barbequed.

Don’t worry – there’s veges for the grill, like eggplant and halloumi skewers, and my favourite – sweet potato with coriander, chilli and lime.

Is it just BBQ meat and vegetables? Any salads, sides?

Of course there is. You’ll be served with mixed salad with Jones’ lemon dressing. There’s coleslaw, potato salad, grilled corn on the cob to go with all that meat. And if the kids are picky – there’s also Jones’ mac and cheese which was an absolutely winner with our kids.

Are there any activities for kids at the Jones Family BBQ? Is Jones JBR family-friendly?

Yes, Jones is family-friendly. Aren’t they all? 🙂

They even serve the kids’ juices in proper takeaway cups with a straw. Every parents’ nightmare when restaurants bring a tall glass for your 3 year old toddler, isn’t it? 🙂

Jones in JBR has their own indoor play corner.

Mind you, it’s not a big one, but it was nice to have at least somewhere the kids can go. Every weekend – they do have a little setup with an attendant present for face painting, colouring and arts and crafts.

If the weather is nice – do sit outside. There is lots of space at the plaza level for the kids to scooter and run around. There are even on-ground trampolines as well if they want to jump on (hopefully, before food?) 🙂

Desserts?

When you’re all done with all the food, Jones’ serves you a platter of dessert. Isn’t it nice, that you don’t even have to leave you seat? 🙂

Honey cakes, basque burnt cheesecakes, chocolate fudge cakes, amongst other sweet things. They are all in little pieces which works well with the kids. I’m sure you will leave happy, and full.
