Once Upon a Brunch @ Mezzerie, Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

Mezzerie has launched a new family brunch, and boy have they gone above and beyond with the entertainment and spread. There are Disney character appearances, a magician, and so much more for the little ones. Guess what it’s called?*Drumroll*……. Introducing, Once Upon a Brunch 🙂

Here’s our review of Waldorf Astoria the Palm’s new Family Brunch : Once Upon a Brunch.

Reintroducing, Mezzerie

If you still haven’t been to Mezzerie, I will very calmly come over and very gently knock on your head. You’ve been missing out!

Mezzerie is Waldorf’s all-day dining, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Saturday’s, they do not serve lunch because you guessed it – it’s brunch day! The venue is transformed into a magical wonderland. You enter Mezzerie through a beautiful floral archway – it’s like going to a wedding. That’s Dubai for you isn’t it 😉 Don’t miss the ‘Once Upon A Brunch’ photo op backdrop to the left – with their fairies – wings, floral tiara and all.

There’s ample indoor seating with a few couch arrangements if you prefer. If it’s cool enough, pick a spot in their outdoor area.

Let’s talk about Mezzerie’s Brunch Spread

Mezzerie’s spread during brunch is lavish, serving premium quality food.

We’re talking live grill stations outsideaustralian grain-fed tomahawk, lobsters, whole snapper and black tiger prawns. There’s literally an entire lamb on the spit being grilled outside. I highly recommend you keep your vegetarian friends and families indoors – ha ha!

They have additional stands from Social by Heinz Beck as well serving Mediterranean Bruschetta, and a live station from Lao for stir-fried noodles if you fancy some.

Pace yourself, there’s lots of food indoors.

You’ll find a special pork section with delicious roast pork and proper crispy pork crackling… absolutely delicious. I haven’t even spoken about their sushi and sashimi corner, and cold seafood selection with shrimps, octopus, crab and lobster!

What about the Kids?

Don’t worry they haven’t forgotten about the little people. You mean your kids don’t eat oysters and tomahawk steak? 🙂

There is a kids corner with what I like to call – ‘the beige favourites.’ Mini hotdogs, pizzas, fish fingers, fries. The usual things 🙂

What about their Dessert Section?

The dessert section at this brunch have been meticulously prepared by the team. You can see the love that has been put into it. We got there early and I stood aside, watching the staff carefully turn the little jars so they all faced the same way, admiring their hard work.

I will admit that we had so much of the mains, that we didn’t get the chance to try much of the dessert. My little ones did get ice cream (on the cone!) and I had some of that, though! We will definitely return, next time.

What sort of Entertainment is there for Kids?

The main highlight for Once Upon a Brunch is the entertainment for the little ones.

To the back of Mezzerie is an area set up, with arts and crafts and face painting.

Soon after, you get Disney appearances by the amazing team, or shall I say lady, from Enchanted Events. Elsa comes by to say hi, and does a show. Next up, you will get the stunning Maleficient. And at last, the beautiful Ariel. In between, she sings and dances with the kids (and adults, if you want to join in). It’s a whole lot of fun, and did I mention that she has an amazing voice? 😉 The acts and appearances may change depending on when you go – who knows which character you will get!

There is also Willy Wonka who goes around to make balloons for the troupe. And of course, the talented magician Mohamed El Said who will literally knock your socks off 🙂

Is there Pool and Beach access at the Mezzerie Family Brunch?

Just when you thought that’s it – you actually get Pool and Beach, as well as Kid’s Club Access at Once Upon a Time Brunch.

This is from 1-7pm, so you are welcome to jump in the pool with the little ones after a feast! Head over to Sunset 55 for sundowners by the beach, you get 50% off food and drinks with the Lets DXB app from 5 to 6:30pm.

What’s the price for Once Upon a Brunch?

Currently, it’s 320 AED for the soft package, 495 AED for house package and of course if you would like some bubbles at brunch, it’s 595 AED per person.

I think it’s at the right price, considering the venue, the spread, and the fact that you get pool and beach as well as kid’s club access. It’s literally an entire daycation with food, drinks AND entertainment included!

I mean, let’s look at this way. Currently the pool and beach day pass for Waldorf in the weekends is 300 AED with 150 AED redeemable. You’re paying 320 AED for the Soft Package at this brunch, which includes as much lobster, tomahawk steak, and sushi that you want to eat. Get it, now? 🙂

Kids under 6 go for free, and it’s 100 AED for the older ones up to 12 years old.

Overall Thoughts

I’m personally really glad that Mezzerie upped their family brunch game with Once Upon a Brunch.

Stunning setting, premium food and endless entertainment for the little ones as well as adults. It’s definitely one to add to the list, especially if you flying into Dubai for a holiday. You can spend an entire day here, or…….. book a night if you wish 🙂
