We have been exploring different products that are available at the Organic Foods & Cafe – to replace the products that we have been purchasing out of habit from a lot of mainstream brands, over the years.
We have found that the ones from Organic Foods & Cafe are healthier – in the sense that there is less sugar, less salt, and therefore less calories. It’s not a win for everyone in the family (there is 5 of us, haha!) – but we have managed to stick to it and I’ll say – so far, so good! I am sure there are a lot of other brands that make similar, or even healthier alternatives, but as we have been doing a lot of shopping at Organic Foods lately – this piece is a round-up of what we have found.
Hope this little list will help you consider getting these healthier alternatives from Organic Foods and Cafe, for the family.
Please note that Organic Foods and Cafe is a UAE-based, family run company. They opened their very first store in Satwa, in 2004.

Organic Larder has a few of its own version of familiar-looking cereal. We have swapped to these recently and the kids don’t seem to have noticed, ha ha!
On OFC, they’re usually around 18-19 AED, however they often go on sale, to as low as 9 AED for a 300g box. It works out cheaper than the brands that we normally get.

- Benny’s Cocoa Krisps | Monkey Krisps
- Lion Honey Puffs | Zarafa Cocoa Puffs
- Chocolate Crunchy Cereal (Typically 25.25 AED for a 375g Unit. Sometimes 11.25 AED when on sale) – We love this one!

Organic Porridge Oats
Organic Larger has its own range of breakfast oats, to include :
- Gluten-free, organic Rolled Oats
- Gluten-free, organic Steel Cut Oats
- Organic Whole Grain Porridge Oats
- Organic Whole Grain Large Oat Flakes
- Organic Whole Grain Small Oat Flakes
I absolutely love their Whole Grain Porridge Oats, which is adequately priced at 12.25 AED for a 500g pack. I used to get Porridge Oats from a well-known British store close to home, which was more expensive as well. Hooray to a cheaper alternative that tastes just as good, and is good for the body!

Organic Peanut Butter
Organic Larder has it’s own Gluten-free Organic Peanut Butter – Creamy, and Crunchy.
It’s typically quite pricey at 35.90 AED a 450gram jar. Sometimes, it goes down to 19.90 AED a jar – which I have checked online, works out to be the same as all the big brands that we used to get.

Organic Tomato Puree (Pasta Sauce)
Another family favourite is Organic Larder’s own Organic Tomato Puree.
We use this to make Spaghetti Bolognaise – which the kids love. It contains less salt, and sugar than the typical off-the-shelf pasta sauce. It’s well-priced at 11.75 AED for a 700gram bottle as well. Keep an eye out for their offers!

Organic Tomato Sauce
With the occasional chicken nuggets and fish fingers that we give the kids, wouldn’t it be good to use Organic Ketchup that has less sugar and salt content? We’ve started swapping to Organic Larder’s own organic ketchup recently. Again, kids don’t realise the difference. It’s typically 19.25 AED for a 500gram bottle and does have offers as well.

I’m not going start staying chicken nuggets are ‘healthy’, ha ha but this one may be a better alternative than some of the other ones out there! It’s supposedly made with 100% New Zealand Chicken tenderloins, covered with crispy coating. Tastes just as good as the naughty stuff we normally get from certain fast food chains 😉 Not too cheap, at 43.50 AED per 500g pack, but at least we know it’s a healthier alternative!
