A very quick review of ladies night at Couqley last week. A fellow mum had recommended the ladies night (credit goes entirely to Michelle – thanks!!) – 99 AED for a meal plus unlimited drinks (for a 3 hour seating). So I dropped the venue an email to book and it was all set – we were going to head over the Wednesday after, to check it out.
How was it?
Well let’s start with venue. It’s been a long time since I’ve been – the last time there was a kid’s play area in there. That’s all gone now, unfortunately – but the place is still the same. It’s a french bistro – and as you walk in you do feel like you have walked into a cosy little bistro somewhere in France (or in Europe, for that matter). Low ceilings, bar to one side, all the many booths to the other. We walked in at 7pm and it was already half-full. By 8pm the place was practically full-house, and surprisingly it wasn’t just groups of ladies out for a good night out – there were lots of mixed groups too.
You get a few choices on the ladies night menu and I was happy with my steak and fries. They call it frites. Skinny fries, french style ay. I’ll put my hands up I didn’t interrogate my friends too much about what they thought of their food – or maybe I did – I cannot remember, haha. Blame it on a good night of chit chat and drinks? It looks good though, doesn’t it?

Eventhough it was busy – the staff were definitely on their toes making sure we had our drinks and that we were kept happy. Chatty, charismatic and funny. Good bunch.
It’s nice to be in a restaurant that is full – it adds to the overall vibe doesn’t it? It was pre-Christmas so christmas songs were being played – it was really nice.
The only teeny weeny thing I would say is – I did feel the team was a tad pushy when it came to the whole ‘please leave us a review on Tripadvisor’ before you go – bit. Literally stood there (with smiles and all) and made sure we submitted our reviews. That’s a big no-no for me. Drop your card – let us get on with our way – we will write it when we are home.
It’s a great offer – 99AED for a really good meal that filled our tummies, and lots of drinks. Even the cocktail was really good – they definitely weren’t stingy when it came to their drinks. Hooray for us 🙂 I’ll definitely be keen to return to try out their other offers – will drag along the husband as well. Till next time 😉
