Caesar’s have completely decked out their lobby area for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. There are kisses all over their statues, red love hearts and crosses hanging from the ceiling – and as you walk towards the Roman Lounge, you get more Valentine’s decor staring back at you. Yes, it’s all a bit tacky and OTT but hey – this is Dubai, and after the year we’ve all had – I’m all in when it comes to happy colours and happy things.

For the entire month of February, Roman Lounge has a specially curated Afternoon Tea called ‘My Little Valentine’s’ – aimed at dad’s to bring their princesses along for a special afternoon out. It really is quite a cute idea. Of course you’re welcome to come with a friend, your spouse, or your tinder date. So don’t worry, you don’t have to borrow your neighbour’s child to do this.

If you like sitting out in the fresh air, definitely pick a spot in their outdoor terrace. The view from there is stunning – it’s quite nice to look ahead towards the sea and not be seeing another island, or a half-built building for a change.

For the afternoon tea – you get one stand to share between two. The items on the stand is refillable, and same goes with your tea and coffee. The presentation for each and every piece of food item on the stand is nothing short of amazing – you can really tell that a lot of effort has been put into it.

Our favourites? The heart-shaped marinated chicken sandwich – with grapes, thyme, whole grain mustard, tomato and of course – multigrain bread. I loved that they waited till we requested for the scones to serve it (take note, all hotels!) – that way it stayed hot and fresh. There was use of exotic ingredients such as saffron and salmon roe on the little salmon sandwich, and bee pollen on their charcuterie sandwich. The desserts at the top was so delicate and beautiful – I knew that if I brought my girls along they would be over the moon.

At the end of the afternoon, they brought out red roses for us, as well as a little red box which had a specially made chocolate to take home. A sweet gesture.

The afternoon tea is 185 AED per adult, complimentary for kids under 4 years old and 50% for kids between 4-12 years old. You can easily spent 2-3 hours out here in the terrace – and it’s nice that you get the chance to try different coffee or teas which would normally cost between 35-60 AED. 23 carat gold leaf tea, anyone?

Make it a nice chilled out date with a girlfriend, or come with your other half. If you have well-behaved kids (that would let you take photos of the food before they snatch it from the stand), let daddy take them our for a Valentine’s date 😉
