Earlier this year, we were in Jumeirah Beach Hotel for a friend’s birthday do at Uptown Bar. After the get-together, we ended up walking along the shorelines of Jumeirah Beach Hotel and found ourselves at a lounge by the beach, right by the Burj Al Arab. Guess what it was called…… in true matter-of-fact Dubai style – “Beach Lounge.” How original 🙂
50 selfies later and a 241 bar bites (Yes, it’s in the Entertainer), I made a note to keep track (instagram / facebook) of this newly opened bar’s shenanigans to later on return should there be any other deals. And yes, they did. Ladies nights was launched close to summer, woohoo. Of course I had other more important things to attend to at that time (i.e. a baby) so just kept it in my very long “to-go” list.
Fast forward to last Monday – the must anticipated ladies night at Beach Lounge – how did it go? Did it live up to my expectations? Was it busy? Would I return?
Can you make a reservation? No. I emailed the Jumeirah Reservations Team and those guys are always on top of things – got back really quick (good on ya) and advised that they operate on a walk-in-basis.
When? Mondays, 8-10pm – and I recommend that you get there early if you want somewhere to sit – there’s a mixture of high tables and lounges or you could just sit by the bar. We got there close to 8pm and just managed to nab two seating areas (for two different groups). 10 minutes later, lots of girls arrived and didn’t have anywhere to sit – you’ll have to stand around the bar!
What do you get? Free-flow bubbles. No, there are no free non-alcoholic options – you will have to pay for a mocktail, or water (and no, there don’t serve local water – just aqua panna or san pellegrino).
Is there food? Not for free, but yes there is a bar bites menu in case you were feeling peckish. Calamari with lobster mayo for 80 AED, fries (the white truffle type) for 60 AED – standard prices but wait! They’re in the Entertainer! 🙂
What’s the crowd like? 70% girls. A few couples here and there.
Should you dress up? Dress code is smart casual and most of the girls made a little effort that night (me, included, he he!) so come in a dress, or jeans with something nice on top 🙂
Ambience? It’s so beautiful right by the sea, and this is as close as you can get to the Burj Al Arab without paying a fortune. Definitely a ladies night to bring guests from overseas (if you’re not planning to go into the Burj Al Arab) – nice beach lounge in good weather, free bubbles, Burj Al Arab, what else could you ask for 🙂
Anything that could be better? The music! Oh dear, it was so loud – definitely not ‘beach lounge’ music, would suggest they tone it done a little, change the playlist around. It was a full-house when we went so service wasn’t all the best (had to wave them down a few time to ask for top-ups) – I think they didn’t expect their ladies nights that night to be busy as it was just the beginning of winter. Probably a lot better now – I hope 🙂
So there you, another awesome ladies nights to go with the girls, if you haven’t already been. Or to bring the guests to 🙂 Go before summer hits (I know, winter just started!) – don’t you just love the weather now!
