When someone talks about a family pool day – first thing that comes to mind is probably a nice resort by the beach. What about doing a pool day in Downtown Dubai? Something different, for a change? You must be wondering – why would I do that – when there’s so many other options available? Well well – have you been to Vida Dubai Mall?

Here’s 5 Reasons why you should consider doing a Pool Day with the Kids at Vida Dubai Mall.

1. Shallow Family Pool, opens until 9pm

Family with young kids would appreciate a shallow family pool – which is exactly what Vida Dubai Mall has. It varies from 0.9m to 1.3m, and has steps on the sides for the younger ones. My 6 and 8 year old were quite happily playing together all evening.

Note :

• Vida Dubai Mall’s Residents also use the same pool so it can get a little busy at times, so do double check with the team before heading over.
• Day Pass Use is open from 12pm until 9pm.
• Bring a water bottle, as there is a chilled water cooler by the pool. Good job Vida – for providing this!

2. Indoor Dining Area with Kids’ Menu

When you first hear ‘Flo Pool Bar & Lounge – first thoughts would be that this was an outdoor dining space. That’s exactly what we thought as well, until we went by and was quite relieved to see that it was indoors and fully air-conditioned!

Of course – over the winter months, the team would keep the doors opened, giving the place that seamless indoor-outdoor feel.

You can order and dine in Flo, or if you prefer – by the sunbeds outside. Vida does have a kids’ menu with very cheeky names like I don’t know, I don’t care and I don’t want that – serving the usual kids’ favourites like cheeseburgers, pasta and chicken nuggets. They’re priced at 35 AED which is really reasonable especially for 4-star hotel right in the centre of Downtown Dubai. Our favourites? Their steak sandwich served with melted cheddar, mushrooms and bean sprouts. They do a really good truffle and mushroom pizza as well.

3. Indoor Showers with Amenities & Sauna

A blessing for families after a pool day is always access to proper indoor showers – so we can get the kids all cleaned up before home time. The bathrooms are easily accessible from the poolside, as well as down the corridor from Flo Pool Bar. Mind you, it’s not a big space – with 2 no. showers available to use, but when we were there late August, it was literally just us using it so it felt like private bathroom!

There is also a sauna – which I would definitely come back and use next time.

4. Glorious Burj Khalifa Views

You’ve got a full view of the Burj Khalifa from the pool side, and the sun sets right behind – giving you that perfect Insta-worthy shot. As the pool currently shuts at 9pm, you can stay on till late with the kids and enjoy night views of the Burj as well.

5. Interconnected to Dubai Mall

A huge plus is that Vida is interconnected to Dubai Mall – which means you can take the kids for a wander after a day at the pool. This was exactly what we did when we went. Some shopping and walking around, after all the food and swimming!

That also means not having to stress about finding parking at Dubai Mall as it’s already valeted at Vida! Just remember to get your valet card validated by Flo after lunch, or before you leave.

Overall Thoughts on a Pool Day at Vida Dubai Mall

I know it’s not the usual but look – it’s nice to take the kids for a different sorta pool day, especially in a city that has so many options. A relatively smaller pool where you can keep an eye on the kids, easy access to indoor showers (and a sauna!), and of course – add in that retail therapy afterwards. The day pass rate is completely redeemable in F&B plus kids go free, so you could literally spend just 200 AED as a family of 4, and have that amount used for lunch. You can’t even do that in the mall itself, isn’t it? 🙂
