Summer Spa-cation at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah Dubai

It’s pretty hot in Dubai right now, isn’t it? I know it’s only June and it will only get hotter – but look, the great thing about summer here are the offers that you won’t be able to get the rest of the year. And what’s the best thing to do when it’s hot and humid outside, for some self-care and pampering? A Spa Day. Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah has possibly one of the best offers in the Palm right now and you better get there soon before it’s gone.

Here’s what to expect at the Summer Spa-cation at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah Dubai.

Introducing – Saray Spa

Hand the keys over to valet when you get to the Marriott and your day of rest and relaxation begins. It was all smiles when I got to the counter at Saray Spa. We went through the formalities with the forms and I had my welcome tea, as I waited for the husband to arrive from work.

He did, shortly after – though it was then time for me to retreat to the women’s section of the spa. We bid our goodbyes – ‘See you in the treatment room’! This, is commonplace in all Dubai spas. Men and Women have their own areas – changing rooms and spa facilities.

With the time that I had to myself – I made full use of the facilities. They had a jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room. Love the design of the steam room, with black tiles and twinkling starlights above. It was literally just me for the entire time that I was there – which was perfect.

Couples Massage in the Couples Treatment Room

When it was about time, I found my way through the dark corridors, into the Couples Treatment Room – also called the Silk Room. Shortly after, the therapist brought the husband in – all robed up in Saray Spa’s own. Hello there, stranger. I think the last time we had a couples massage was a year ago. It’s nice to do it once in a blue moon.

The staff began to go through the natural massage oils. De stress – comprising of lavender and bergamot. Energy – which has orange, pomegranate and grape fruit. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it. Then Muscle Ease – which has peppermint, lemongrass and cloves. Lemongrass it is for me.

The massage itself is a 60-minute treatment – and it’s completely personalised, so you can tell them the intensity, and where to focus on. So if you want it to light – they’ll do it light. If you want them to break your back, they’ll do just that. That’s just a figure of speech, please. Nothing’s getting broken here.

After the treatment – you are welcome to stay in there for another 20 minutes to use the jacuzzi, heated water bed and freshen up. Note that most, if not all spas in Dubai have separate spa facilities (which is the same as Marriott’s) – so it’s definitely a big plus that they allow mixed-use of their facilities within the couples treatment room post-treatment.

Pool and Beach Access at Marriott Resort

Included in the Summer Spa-cation is all-day access to Marriott’s Pool and Beach. You are welcome to go for dip pre, or post-treatment. They have one of the biggest pools on the Palm and glorious views of the Dubai Marina. Just look at the photo below.

Dinner at MYAMI

That’s not all. You also get 150 AED Food & Beverage credit to use at selected outlets as part of the Summer Spa-cation offer. This includes Bal Harbour Beach, MYAMI, Senor Pico, Levantera and Cucina. Note that Bal Harbour Beach and MYAMI is outdoors, whereas the other three venues have indoor dining spaces, so you can take your pick.

We dined in MYAMI when we were there mid-June. It was lovely to have a drink and watch the sun set at Palm West Beach. There were still people walking their dogs, going for a run and cycle. Lovely vibe, even at the start of summer.

If you like your sushi – get both the MYAMI and Lobster Maki. We recommend their Cajun Chicken and Grilled Pineapple Salad, together with the Garlic Prawns as well.

Night Swims by MYAMI

If you want to go for a dip post dinner – note that MYAMI is open till 10pm throughout the summer months. The pool is all lit up blue, and it’s quiet and beautiful in the evenings. Jump right back into the pool to cool down, if you start to break a sweat at dinner.

Have friends who are keen to meet you there after your spa day? Marriott’s Evening Day Pass is 100 AED Mon-Thurs and 150 AED Fri-Sun, fully redeemable in F&B in MYAMI. See Night Swims by MYAMI.

Overall Thoughts

For 449 AED per person for a spa-cation, it really is value for money. Note that a 60-minute ‘All About You Massage’ is typically priced at 550 AED, so you’re paying less than that for the massage, together with pool and beach, and F&B credit.

If you plan it properly – you can literally spend an entire day at the Marriott. What I suggest? Go for a dip in the afternoon. Head over to Saray Spa and spend at least half an hour or so in the facilities. Next up – the 60-minute massage. Chill out over tea for another half an hour, before heading to one of their restaurants for a bite. Finish off the evening with a night swim. Sounds bliss, right? 🙂
