Have you been to Eataly? The one, that’s at The Beach in JBR? You know what’s a little different between this one, compared to all the other Eataly’s in Dubai? It’s………… licensed. Plus it has gorgeous views from their outdoor terrace – looking straight at Ain Dubai. And if you haven’t realised – it’s ‘at the Beach,’ – best spot for a restaurant, right? 🙂
We headed over on a Saturday afternoon, to meet some friends for their newly launched brunch, early November. Here’s what to expect at Brunch All’Italiana or in english – ‘An Italian Brunch’ at Eataly at the Beach.
Where is Eataly at the Beach?
Eataly is in Pavilion at the Beach – an enclosed, air-conditioned pavilion where a few other restaurants are located.
Closest tram station would be JBR2 – and it’s a short walk there. Tip : Wear comfortable walking shoes as the route isn’t actually ‘heel-friendly’ – (unfortunately) I learned it the hard way.
If you’re driving (and not drinking), you can also park in the basement parking. Don’t forget to validate your parking before you go for 4 hours complimentary parking.

Where exactly is the brunch held and how is like?
Eataly occupies two levels – and the brunch is held in their upper terrace area aka Terazza.
High tables, foliage althroughout – a combination of real and faux green walls , and guess what? It’s currently decked out for the festive season with a beautiful Christmas tree and festive garlands. Everything just looks so much better during Christmas 🙂

Here’s the view from their outdoor terrace. Gorgeous, isn’t it?
The lovely thing is if you choose to sit here, it’s shaded throughout the afternoon. That way you get the view and the whole al fresco dining feel, without having to worry about sitting directly under the sun.

What’s on the Brunch Menu?
Eataly’s Brunch is what I’ll call – a very chilled, and relaxed one to do. Food and drinks is all served to table – so no queueing and fluffing around. You can literally get there, sit down, and have a chat with your friends all afternoon.
Starters include garlic and rosemary focaccia, beef bresaola with rocket leaves, burrata and daterino and fried squid.
The focaccia was an absolute winner with all 3 of us. You know sometimes you go to brunch and you try to avoid carbs and eat the ‘other stuff’ – well, you might change your mind when you try Eataly’s, ha ha! We all agreed that you can see how good the food is based on the most basic item that they have in there – which in this case was their bread. Perfecto.

Thoughts from all? It was a great combination to start on.
Bit of crunch and salt from the calamari, meatiness from the beef bresaola, complimentd with the lightness of their burrata. And of course – in between, we were all munching on their focaccia (quite difficult, not to!). It’s a weekend, we can have some carbs 😀 To highlight – you can request for more of the starters, if you want to.
Let’s talk about rest of the brunch. Mains, music & drinks.
For mains – you get to choose one each. Luckily we were a table of 3, so we got the opportunity to try each item. My favourite would have to be the parmigiana di melanzane aka baked eggplant with tomato and mozzarella. I’m no vegetarian but this was one dish, executed well.
There’s pasta, of course – with mixed seafood, and stuffed chicken medallions with leek and porcini mushroom sauce. If you’re with a group that doesn’t mind sharing – it’s nice to try a little bit of all three dishes for the variety!

Another highlight of Eataly’s brunch would be their drinks selection.
For 235 AED – you get 7 different cocktails to include the classic aperol spritz, good old-fashioned negroni or one with a twist – the negori sbagliato where they replace gin with prosecco. Everything is better with prosecco, don’t tell me otherwise 🙂 Wine is included of course, and for beers? Birra Moretti, the classic Italian lager.

The very talented Vahimiti was performing that afternoon – which absolutely added to the overall vibe. She switched between english classics like Amy Winehouse’s Valerie and Miley Cyrus’ Flowers, to Italian favourites ( this is the part I need to cross-check with an Italian on the song title, ha !) It’s great that it was at just the right volume and tempo – where we could still have a comfortable brunch and a conversation, but enjoy the overall vibe the live music brought.

Are there any desserts?
Definitely save your tummies for Eataly’s desserts. Again, perfect for sharing – the tiramisu, a mango and raspberry semifreddo on dark chocolate sponge, and a dark chocolate mousse with orange jam.

Overall Thoughts
I absolutely love it when venues price their brunches adequately.
Eataly’s Saturday brunch is 195 AED for their soft package, and 235 AED for their Classic – which includes all drinks, including cocktails. You very rarely see this sorta price in Dubai, especially in this end of town. If you’re looking for a chilled-out spot for brunch with friends, one where you can talk, have food all served to table, with a lovely view of the buzzing JBR beyond – this is the brunch for you 🙂 It’s just an absolute bonus that it is priced well. Good on ya, Eataly 🙂
