With so many new restaurants replacing old ones in Mall of the Emirates – I wasn’t too sure where to bring the folks for lunch. Had a browse on the Entertainer App and noticed that there’s a new(ish) cafe that was in THAT Concept Store. Yes the store name is in caps, I’m not shouting. After a bit of attempted shopping – we got there, asked around, and found No. Fifty Seven (or No. 57, whichever you prefer) – a beautiful little boutique cafe – tucked in the corner on the 2nd floor of THAT.
So – how was the food? Was it just another cute coffeeshop, for the gram? Or did it have food to that was worthy of a second visit?
Cute?
Well – that’s probably the wrong word to describe this place. It’s more chic, with a monotone palette, beige walls and arched windows. Felt like you’ve gone to a cafe somewhere in Europe (the arched windows part) – then you look out and see…… the Metro 😉

Was it busy on a school day morning ?

At 11:30am on a Wednesday morning – there were a group of ladies on the corner couches, and a few other tables occupied by people who seem to be working on their laptops. PS – No kids in sight.
Is it kid-friendly then?
Well – there’s space for prams. But if you have toddler with itchy hands, I would highly recommend that you don’t bring them through THAT Concept Store on the 2nd floor. There are a lot of fragile items that little ones would absolutely love to play with (and shouldn’t, haha). By all means – if you have a very well-behaved child, bring them along. Otherwise, save it for a kid-free coffee morning.
Let’s talk about the food.

We ordered 3 items from the Main Menu and 2 coffees. It was so good, we said the next time we were in MOE – we were definitely coming back.
A good cup of latte and cappuccino is priced very reasonably at 20 AED each. The Southern Fried Chicken Burger (65 AED) – we all loved it – crunchy on the outside (the chicken…) and tender and juicy in the inside. The coleslaw was spicy, loved the sauce – they make their own. Cilantro lime Shrimp Tacos – 3 pieces, served in soft taco shells. Yummy, but maybe not as memorable as the others. And lastly, the truffle skillet tortellini lasagne (75 AED) – gooey and cheesey and oh so good. Heavy, definitely – but good. Come hungry.
Service?
No issues. Courteous, prompt.
Coming back?
Yes. It’s a nice hidden spot – away from the hustle and bustle of the MOE foodcourts. They mentioned we can use the Entertainer for breakfast as well and open at 9am. Nice to see a new addition to MOE – somewhere different to go to. That’s Dubai for you, isn’t it.
I’m coming back, soon! Join me? 😉
