A Tea Sommelier Experience @ Seasalt, Alila Hinu Bay – Mirbat Oman

Have you ever done a Tea Sommelier experience? During our stay in Alila Hinu Bay, I had the opportunity to do a one on one session with the very lovely Maureen in their signature restaurant – Seasalt. The husband was not interested had to stay with the kids in the Kids Club which was conveniently located downstairs – and I told him – please make sure the kids don’t come up halfway through the session ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was a really insightful session, understanding the difference between the various type of teas – where they come from, how they are made.

A casual yet fun experience – just the two of us, over tea. I also got to find out how Maureen got into the whole ‘tea sommelier’ thing – it is always interesting to listen to stories of people who work in the hospitality sector.

As part of the experience, an ‘Afternoon Tea’ set is served (of course). This is called fuwala in Oman – there’s traditional Omani Shuwa (lamb profit rolls), Akhshwood tuna wrap, and Omani desserts such as khamfaroush (baked pastry, saffron and rosewater) and my absolute favourite – the Asida.

If you want to learn a little about tea, try some delicacies specially made for the afternoon – give it a try. Book yourself a Tea Sommelier experience at Seasalt.

I would strongly suggest you do not bring toddlers along as there are a lot of things present in the session that do not go well with little fingers – the glasses, the tea leaves, the hot water, to start ๐Ÿ˜‰

Take some time out for yourself for this.
