It’s nice when a restaurant is consistent – that’s what I felt from our afternoon tea visit at The Address Boulevard yesterday. We tried the ‘Art Crafted Afternoon Tea’ almost two years ago now (click here) – and returned to review the Chocolate Afternoon Tea. Spent an entire afternoon with mum and the girls. Made it into a little Mother’s Day celebration I guess 🙂
So – did we enjoy it? Very much so. From the welcome drink – an orange, ginger-infused mocktail, served with a petal-embedded ice-sphere, to the freshly baked scones, to the couscous served with shaved pistachios and pomegranate – every little piece was a delight to the eyes and palate.
The theme is Chocolate, so the sweets on the top of the little white cupboard display was as you expect – chocolate-based. My favourite would possibly be the tart, containing lemon mascarpone cream, calamansi curd and light meringue. I know I know, that’s not chocolate, but I liked it. Maybe you should just have this first 🙂
Is afternoon tea a good idea to bring the little ones? I would say – if you have a very well-behaved toddler – maybe so. If you have one who would reach out and destroy the meticulously created desserts, let daddy babysit and just do a girl’s afternoon out. If you’re planning to go on the weekends, like we did on a Saturday, it was the same time as their usual brunch and they had a kid’s corner with arts and craft, face painting. The alternative is the Qix Club down in the mezzanine floor which kept the girls’ happy for a quite awhile (Note: Children under 4 to be accompanied by an adult).
As it was Ramadan, afternoon tea was served at The Restaurant. We picked a quiet corner which ended up being perfect as the little one was asleep in the pram. Any other time, it would be served in The Lounge – which I think would be another great spot for girly gatherings, baby showers and the like.
Things that could be better? Suggest for complimentary access to the Qix Club for all guests for the duration of the Afternoon Tea. That will be absolute sure pull to all mums out there. The spread, the coffee – no issues at all. Ah, would be good to introduce another package with a glass of bubbly? 😉
Give it a try. You don’t need a 241 for this as it is reasonably priced at 189AED for two people. Note that most afternoon teas in Dubai are around the same price per person (click here for other reviews), and yes a lot of them come with a 241 but hey – try something different. Complimentary valet, you could pop over to Dubai Mall for some shopping afterwards through their interconnecting bridge without the stress of finding parking as well! 😉
