First Impressions @ Breeze Beach Grill, Club Vista Mare Dubai

I loved the atmosphere at Club Vista Mare so much that I told G we should go and check it out on Friday. So off we went to the Palm as a family, parked the car and pushed the little munchkin along the boardwalk. Busy on a weekend, we passed by The Tap House (where I had just been with a friend the day before – click here for my review) and saw the same guys who took care of us. They recognised my little girl and were calling out to her, he he. She’s such a superstar. I love it when people remember 😉

As Breeze Beach Grill had a 241, we decided that was there we’ll go to for lunch. We approached the man by the counter. He remembered us from the day before (as well!) when I went for a wander to every outlet along the strip, and got us a nice large table at the terrace. That was very nice of him I thought – the bench could easily sit 6 adults and it was just us 2, plus the little girl. Very generous of them, considering how full the outlet was that day – mainly occupied by people there for their Friday Brunch.

So far so good.

A scan at the menu – lots to choose from. We wanted something simple. So I chose the Lobster Roll (yes, lobster is considered simple when in Dubai!) which was highlighted with a big square around it – apparently one of their signature dishes (93 AED). And G chose the Salmon from the Fish Cuts section – 97 AED to match mine in terms of price (cause we were using a 241…).

Our drinks came quite quick – a Hoegaarden (bonus points for having this in your menu!), surprisingly quite cheap I thought at around 35 AED or so. And yes, they also have local water – I have a feeling all the outlets in Club Vista Mare actually sat down and talked about this, good on ya.

And aha, our food. My lobster roll, served with sweet potato crisps and mixed leaf salad, was served pretty on light blue plates to match the rest of the decor. Whilst the roll – a sandwich really (not sure where the roll came into place, someone educate me please) was tasty, there was way too much salt on the mixed leaf salad. I actually washed them in my cup of water before having it. Not wasting anything on this plate that costs 93 AED 😉

Oh in case you were wondering, the plastic container with fruits in the photo below was not part of the meal – that my little girl’s lunch (from home), heh.

Hello, lobster roll

G’s salmon, when brought to table – we both looked at it, then each other – same expression – a little disappointed. Yes the colours were there – orange, green, blue, yellow and very instagram-friendly but it just looked a bit too simple for 97 AED. The greens, similar to my lobster roll was way too salty. Whilst the salmon was adequately grilled with possibly just a sprinkle of salt and pepper, even with the setting – sun, sea, gorgeous terrace and all, I didn’t feel that it was worth it.

Salmon… hmm

We stayed on a little to enjoy the breeze, the beach, and our grills (not bad ay..), and left soon after whilst the crowd was getting louder and louder (brunch o-clock) 😉

I gotta say they were great with service though. Even with a full-house, I’m glad they gave us a spot on the terrace on a large bench-table, and food was quick to come. They were as usual, superb with the little munchkin. Everyone loves her 🙂

So, would I return?

Curious to try out their brunch deal, maybe that would have been more worth it, with a group of friends, and a couple of drinks? Not the best first impression when it comes to their food, but loved the place, the vibe, and the service anyhow 🙂

Here’s a shot of the place itself, taken from Breeze’s instagram page :
