A walk through St Hilarion Castle, Kyrenia – Cyprus

Good morning !

St Hilarion Castle was for us, the highlight of our short trip to Cyprus. After going to Nicosia and crossing the “Cyprus/Turkey” border, we went further north towards Girne.

On the way you pass by Kyrenia, and please do make a stop at the castle.

It is to me, very different to the few (not many) castles we’ve been to. Built along the top of the mountain, it follows its profile so it’s sorta camouflaged. It’s a good hike up to the top though mind you, so bring water!

Apparently this was what inspired Walt Disney for the castle in Snow White. What do you think? 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
