Tejas Restaurant @ Trump Ocean Club

Sitting cross-legged in our suite, cheers to Trump Ocean Club for spoiling us 🙂 We’re much in need of this after getting sunburnt snorkelling off Bocas Del Toro, and eaten alive by sandflies at Punta Caracol.

Gonna jump on the shuttle in an hour to the nearest mall to Casco Vejo, thought I’ll do a little photo-blog on our feast last night, hee hee.

So I got a lil phone call to welcome us as they had seen Mr Mustard‘s photo on instagram. That was a first, and just one of the many highlights of our trip, haha. We hadn’t had dinner yet so Adeshka recommended Tejas, a Latin American/Caribbean restaurant located on the 14th floor of the hotel. Ok, why not!

Melissa and Adeshka were all smiles, welcoming us to Tejas upon arrival. We chose to sit inside, and started going through the menu. Although I wasn’t super hungry (it was 9pm!), I thought c’mon, let’s just give the degustation menu a try. It was 65USD for 6 courses, paired with 3 glasses of wine. Pretty good deal I thought, a lot cheaper than what you’ll get in Dubai!

G ordered the snapper, as he knew the degustation menu will end up being shared, haha. We had an awesome feast last night. The wine was so good, I didn’t know Trump makes their own wine? Service was great, though some things got a bit lost in translation as we couldn’t speak any spanish. We left around 11:30pm, tummies full of good food and wine, and very happy. Great start to our first evening in Panama City! Cheers to the staff, to Rodolfo who took care of us, to Adeshka and Melissa for the great Panamian hospitality 🙂

Here’s a series of photos for you to feast on!

DSC03005 Jumbo Shrimp Raviolis, Lomo with Goat Cheese, Edamame with Pesto & Bacon – the shrimp was jumbo alright 😀 I thought the ravioli was a little bit tough but G thought it was good.

DSC03006 G’s Snapper and banana crisps? – I love how they use bananas a lot in their cooking, love love it.

DSC03007 Crispy Skin Duck Magret, Celeriac Puree with Vanilla Plantain, Brownie & Bitter-sweet Chocolate Sauce – Personally thought the duck was a bit tough but then again duck meat is usually like that isn’t it? Loved the sweetened banana, they call it plantain?

DSC03009 Cheese platter – beautifully lay-ed out

DSC03010Chocolate Parfait, honeymoon-style, aww 🙂

If you’re in Panama, check out the restaurant! We’re gonna venture out and explore the little cafes and restaurants in the old part of town now, leave us a recommendation or follow my alter ego Mr Mustard on Instagram on our travel adventures 🙂
