Date Night Thursdays at Prime 52 : Fine Dining in a Dubai Marina Steakhouse

Just before leaving Dubai with the little ones for a few weeks, the husband and I sneaked in one last dinner date. Prime 52 it was – a short stroll from home. We contemplated driving over just in case either of us break a sweat – but the idea of getting into a car when the restaurant was so close seemed somewhat ridiculous. Walking, it was.

Here’s what Date Night Thursdays at Prime 52 is like.

An Introduction to Prime 52

You might be wondering where exactly Prime 52 is. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Back in 2024 – Observatory closed for many months for a much needed renovation. The ‘restaurant-half’ of it is now Prime 52 – a fine dining steakhouse, taking in a similar name to its sister branch in the JW Marriott Marquis – Prime 68. The other half remains as Observatory Lounge.

The team brought us to our table and we – in our usual picky fashion decided on another one. Didn’t really want to sit out and look at our own apartment building on a date night. Might even see our kids waving at us from the window.

We found another table facing the marina itself. Side by side seating on a round table – facing the Dubai Marina skyline. It was perfect.

I did wander around to see what they have done with the place. There is a really lovely bar area which would be perfect for group gatherings. I wonder if they do wine tasting there?

The Date Night Thursdays Offer

Every Thursday – Prime 52 does a special Date Night Offer for 595 AED. It’s a three-course menu with a glass of bubbly, each.

We went in with no indication of what would be served, so it ended up being quite a nice, different experience. Take note that the menu will change based on the chef’s choice so when you do go – it won’t be the exact same experience as ours. Keep reading though – on how it went.

Our Experience

It’s all proper fine dining with white tableclothes, and staff all smart in vests and bowtie – so by all means – go ahead and dress up as well for your date night as well. Remind your husband to put on a shirt, haha.

The staff starts off by wheeling over a trolley with your bread and butter. I know what you’re thinking – what can they possibly do, with bread and butter? Hold your horses, this is Dubai. He starts shaping the butter with two spoons into quenelles, and very elegantly places them onto a marble stone. The bread is sliced in front of you – before being transferred onto the table.

I gotta say, Prime 52 does amazing bread.

Warm, soft and chewy in the middle and crisp on the outside. It does however causes you to mess up the entire table when you’re eating it – much like what your toddler would do with everything else. Don’t worry – the team will come and clear it before the next dish.

Starters

After clarifying if we had any dietary restrictions – the team proceeded to go through the dishes that would be served as part of the Date Night offer.

We started off with Prime52’s Green Salad – tossed with caramelized walnuts and honey lemon dressing.

This was fresh and light, complementing the much heavier and meaty Wagyu Steak Tartare dish that came shortly after. Thank goodness we didn’t finish the bread that came at the beginning of the dish as the sourdough was definitely not enough for all that tartare that they served.

The Grilled Octopus was our favourite – served on a bed of crushed potato and spiced with a very flavourful paprika alioli. I think by then we had already moved on to our second glass of wine ( Note : this is additional to the Date Night Thursday menu )

Mains

Mains that evening was a USDA Prime Black Angus New York’s striploin – and upon my husband’s request ( as it was one steak, to be shared between the both of us ) – prepared medium well. We were both, so stuffed by then – and struggled to finish it off, but we did our very best as it was such good steak.

Dessert

Thankfully desserts were just the right size for what space we had left that evening in our tummy. Sorbet with candy floss atop ( as always – reminding us of our kids ), and a decaded chocolate mousse cake with feuilletine crunch.

Overall Thoughts

If you’re looking for a date night option on a Thursday evening – this is one good option to consider.

Let the team surprise you with the set menu of the evening, or if you’re not so adventurous – just give them a call beforehand so you can see if the menu suits. We love the whole fine dining experience – the bread trolley to table, the attentiveness, the menu. It’s just a bonus that it’s so close to home.

What could be better? Maybe some live music to go with the date night? 🙂

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.
