Why can’t there be more offers like this? An early barbeque by the beach – where the kids can play. One where you don’t have to stress about the meat, the charcoal or the salads – because it’s all done for you. Which also means less probability of falling into a huge argument with your other half as well, haha. You sit on the tables on the sand, and watch as the sun slowly sink beneath the horizon. It’s Friday. The beginning of the weekend. And that – is the Beach House Barbeque at the Anantara the Palm Dubai 😉
Sounds pretty good, right?
Let’s start from the beginning.
Where is the barbeque done ?
The team at The Beach House has set it all up on the sand in front of the restaurant, every Friday evening. You can choose to sit on the tables right on the beach, or if you prefer – a table on their wooden terrace.
We of course picked the ones right on the beach and threw laid the beach toys down next to the table so the kids could play.
What’s on the menu?
Beef steaks, chicken and lamb kebabs, lobsters, king prawns and fresh whole fish for you to choose from – sea bream, sea bass, red snappers and more.
There is also a simple buffet area with a few salad options, grilled corn, baked potatotes and black rice.
The team brought a tray of salads to the table, plus a bowl of arabic bread which the kids dove into – like seagulls. It’s always a competition to see who can empty the bread bowl the fastest. Take them out to have some nice food and they stuff their faces with bread. Kids 🙂
How was the meat? Well, there’s just something about cooking food over charcoal isn’t it. The smokiness, the proper barbeque taste. The kids finished their food off really quick and ran back down the beach to play. Mum and I just slowly enjoyed our early dinner, whilst keeping an eye on the kids.
As the sun set – the sky turned into a beautiful dark purple hue. We watched as the over-the-water-villas lit up, and families slowly retreating back to their rooms. It was nice, just to sit there, our feets on the sand, having a drink in hand and enjoying the Dubai winter night.
A few things that could have been better? It would have been perfect if they got a guy on a guitar. Or a girl. That’s fine 🙂 Also – desserts, to be included in the menu. How can you leave dinner without a little cake, or something sweet? 🙂
Overall Thoughts
Beach House Barbeque – we thought was a unique take to the usual ‘evening brunches’ in Dubai. We need more of it, don’t you think? It’s a much simpler set up than the usual lavish buffet Dubai residents would be used to, but it was nice – in the sense that it made you feel like you’re not in Dubai. That you’ve travelled somewhere for a holiday, and you’re having a laid-back barbeque on the beach with the kids 🙂
If only winter lasted longer…. or for the whole year, then we could be doing this every single weekend in Dubai 🙂
