Amaya – A Family-Friendly Restaurant with Fountain Views in Dubai Mall

With so many restaurants in Dubai Mall – you may wonder – where’s a good spot to dine at, with the family? Or maybe, you have some friends or family visiting and you would like to take them to a restaurant with both fountain and Burj Khalifa views? Introducing Amaya – a restaurant in Dubai Mall with a very creative menu, and guess what? It is family-friendly as well.

Here’s our review of Amaya.

Where is Amaya?

Just in case the title was not clear enough – Amaya is located in Dubai Mall.

Where exactly? On the first floorright next to the waterfalls.

Closest parking? Cinema Parking – P3 Level which is the same level as the Mall’s Ground Floor Level. Once you enter, you’ll see the ice-skating ring. Turn left and walk towards the waterfalls. You’ll see the escalator and at the top is…… Amaya. You’re welcome.

How is the restaurant like?

I personally like what they’ve done with the space.

There’s two indoor areas smoking, and non-smoking. The non-smoking area, and therefore family-friendly area is right by the waterfalls so you can pick a spot and people watch. You’ll find cozy peach-toned booths with plush cushions – which I’m sure the kids will love. Just keep an eye out on their dirty fingers hey! 🙂

Does Amaya have outdoor seating?

Yes – and similarly with its indoor area – they’ve separated it into smoking, as well as non-smoking which is again fabulous for families.

Amaya has possibly one of the best views of the Burj Khalifa from their outdoor seating. I know “best” is subjective – but just to make it clear – it’s one of those venues where you can sit at the terrace and take a FULL photo of the Burj Khalifa with the lakes and Souk al Bahar bridge in front.

That also means that it does have a fabulous view of the Dubai Fountains.

What type of food does Amaya serve?

Amaya’s menu is very much international. It’s one of those places you can go with anyone, and everyone will (hopefully) have something that they can order.

You’ll get salads – from vegetarian options such as greek, watermelon and feta, quinoa and avocado – to king crab or mango prawn salads.

If you feel like a burger and pizza – Amaya has all the options you can think of. Slow cooked beef burgers, wagyu and cheese, and even seabass. I didn’t even know you can do burgers with seabass.

As the family loves sushi – we went for the sharing sushi-sashimi platter. My 4-year boy loves pushing out all the delicious ingredients and eating the sushi rice with the seaweed. More good stuff for mummy, right? 🙂

On this platter you’ll find salmon, tuna and hamachi sashimi – with the same, on a nigiri-roll. As for maki’s – there’s their signature premium wagyu tataki roll which comes with caviar and gold flakes. Just typical Dubai ingredients, ha ha. You’ll love their ebi truffle roll – a flavorful sushi roll that combines the delicate taste of ebi (shrimp) with the rich, earthy notes of truffle.

What else is on the menu?

If you have a peek at their main course section – you’ll get fish, lamb, veal, chicken, beef and even lobster if you’re feeling a little fancy.

We have sea bream quite regularly at home, but still loved Amaya’s charcoal grilled boneless sea bream dish. There’s just something about cooking on charcoal that does food differently, isn’t it? The natural flavors of the sea bream is elevated by the smoky depth from the charcoal grilling. One of those things we sadly can’t do in our apartment…..

Is Amaya open for breakfast?

Yes – Amaya opens for breakfast from 10am everyday – and their breakfast menu is available until 1pm Monday to Thursdays, 3pm on Friday and Saturdays, and 4pm on Sundays.

We’ve been a few times and it’s really lovely to sit outside in the morning in the winter months. Their Turkish Sharing Style Platter is highly recommended and well-priced at 169 AED which includes a huge spread of cheeses, bakery, menemem, grilled soujouk and so much more. The kids will love the bread and dipping it into the honey comb and clotted cream (which is also my favourite!)

They also serve a variety of other international breakfast options – from eggs benedict, to spanish omelettes, to shakshoukas. Craving something sweet? Don’t worry – Amaya has it all sorted. French toasts, pancakes, acai bowls and homemade granola – they got it all. Feeling like something different? Give their nutella croissant a try 😉

Is Amaya really family-friendly? Do they have a kids’ menu?

We dined with the kids in tow – ages 4, 6 and 8 at the time. Whilst there is no specific play area, it is still a family-friendly restaurant – with its family-style booth-seatings indoors and comfortable outdoor seatings overlooking the fountains and the Burj Khalifa.

They do have a kids menu which is available upon request. They also have a lot of the usual kids favourites in their normal menu. Margarita and pepperoni pizzas, spaghetti bolognaise, and hey – if your little one is like my 6-year old and would like a bowl of plain macaroni with butter – they can do it for you, don’t worry 🙂

Overall Thoughts

Amaya is definitely a fabulous addition to Dubai Mall’s dining scene.

On price-point, it is understandably on the higher end, but – they do good food and the views are absolutely spectacular. It’s one of those venues where you can sit all evening and watch the fountains without getting trampled on by the crowds.

Did we also mention that Amaya has it’s very own personal buggy – that operates from 2pm onwards? So if you would like to go elsewhere after food (or if your little one needs to the bathroom), they can take you right there!

Disclaimer : We were guests of Amaya to review the venue offering, with the family.
