We packed our bags for a little staycation – a short drive from home one weekend in June. The Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah is literally a ten minutes drive from home, which probably doesn’t make any sense to most but the experience as a whole, is completely different to what we can get – in our apartment in the marina. And that’s why people go on a staycation, don’t they? For a ‘change of scenery’? 🙂
Are you thinking of staycation with the family? Or maybe you’re flying in to Dubai and considering Marriott Resort? Here’s what to expect.
Where exactly is the Marriott Resort in Dubai ?
Marriott is located along Palm West Beach alongside many other resorts. They are connected by a lovely boardwalk so you can easily pop out and go for a wander with the the family. The Palm West Beach is particularly busy in the winter months as well!
Note that although it is on the Palm, it’s one of the few resorts that is very quick to get to from the main motorway, and likewise – to get out as well.
What Room Type would fit a Family of 5 in the Marriott Resort?
We stayed in a Palm Family Suite – which consisted of a Palm Suite (king size bed, and separate living room area), interconnected with a Palm Deluxe Double which had a 2 no. Double Beds. At the time of staying, our kids were ages 4, 6 and 8. The 4 year old shared the king size bed with the husband and I (stuck with me, haha), and the girls took the double beds in the other room.
If you have 2 kids, or maybe your third child is still a baby – have a look at their Palm and Executive Suites which are 1-bedroom suites with a living area. These come with a sofa bed which will fit the family comfortably.

How are the views from these rooms?
If I was sitting on the bed in the Palm Family Suite, and I had the curtains drawn – I would be looking straight out at the Arabian Sea, and Ain Dubai far beyond. Gorgeous views all day – and especially at sunset.
Here’s our little boy peeking out.

These are shots taken when standing at the balcony itself. Beautiful, isn’t it?

And if you’re staying there over the cooler months, you can sit outside with a drink and enjoy the view. Not pictured in this shot, but they actually have a sunbed provided for you on the balcony of these rooms. Great idea, isn’t it?

What’s their pool and beach like? Is it family-friendly?
Marriott has one of the bigger family pools in Dubai : 70m long according to the life guard that I spoke to that Saturday morning. The great thing is that it’s relatively shallow at 0.9m (most hotel pools are 1.5m deep) – which does make it easier for younger kids who are not so confident as they can touch the ground, or at least on tippie toes.
They do have a shaded bar area right in the middle if you feel like cheeky drink on a hot day.
As the pool is set quite far away from the main building – it does get a lot of sun for I will say most of the day. The pool opens at 8am and by 8:30am mid June, it was mostly lit. Sunscreen, mummies and daddies! 🙂

For those of you with toddlers – don’t worry, they do have a shaded toddler pool which you can see – is to the left of the family pool in the picture above. There is a gated playground within the same area.

Does Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah have a kids’ club? What’s the drop off age?
Right next to the playground you’ll find Marriott’s kids’ club.
The kids spent sometime there during our weekend away as it was pretty hot and humid at around 40 degree celcius in the daytime. Thankfully they open at 9am, so when the kids were done with breakfast we could drop them off (it’s a short walk from Levantera) and carry on having a quiet peaceful breakfast – just daddy and mummy. Thank goodness for kids’ clubs!
Note the following :
- Drop offs from 4 years and above, and is recommended for 4-12 year olds.
- Parents are allowed inside with the younger ones below 4, however, they will be advised to leave the premises from 6pm onwards.
- Marriott’s Kids’ club is open from 9am to 10pm, where it’s movie time from 8pm to closing.

Where shall we dine with kids at the Marriott?
During our weekend away, we had breakfast with the kids at Cucina one morning, and Levantera on the next. Two very different experiences.
Levantera
Levantera is your typical 5-star resort all-day dining hall – which most in-house guests would be having their breakfast at. It was really busy when we were there mid June (to be mentioned, it was the weekend after Eid holidays) – that there were queues to get in from 10am onwards. If you are there with young kids like us – I would expect you to be one of the first ones to get to the breakfast hall haha! So you probably wouldn’t have any issue with queues. There are egg stations, a huge buffet selection to include pastries, pancakes, waffles, and I am happy to report that I even found porridge to cater for the east asians.
Note : Breakfast at Levantera is from 7am-11am.
Cucina
Breakfast at Cucina was ….. such a memorable experience. I actually got there at 8am and had a solo one by myself before the rest of the crew came. Their signature omelette filled with ricotta cheese, sprinkled with black truffle was absolutely a-ma-zing. I would happily go back and have that again. By myself, haha!
The husband and kids joined shortly after. The kids had waffles, pancakes, and a english breakfast set (or should I say, italian breakfast set?) It was just such a cosy and comfortable place to dine at with the family. Highly recommended.
Note : Cucina also does a unlimited ala carte breakfast every weekend. More details on our Bubbly Breakfasts in the Palm Jumeirah listing

Senor Pico
Senor Pico has always been a family favourite when it comes to a casual dining spot with the kids. The kids love mexican – nachos, tacos, and of course churros! They make one of the best margaritas in town.
Have a look at our detailed feature of Senor Pico – on what to expect.

Any recommended date spots at the Marriott?
Smoki Moto
We had the opportunity to do Smoki Moto – their korean steakhouse over a date night when we were there. If you appreciate fine cuts of steak, and having it cooked right in front you – Smoki Moto is the place to go. Have a look at our experience at Smoki Moto.
Tip : Every Friday Smoki Moto does a FOMO offer – 3 drinks and an appetiser for 120 AED. It’s a nice way to give it a try before going into the main deal!

Have a look at other Restaurants at Palm West Beach.
Overall Thoughts of the Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah with kids
If you’re looking for a resort on the Palm that’s not too far away down the crescent, easy to get in and out yet still has the whole ‘Palm Resort’ vibe – give Marriott a try.
Its location on Palm West Beach means you get to pop out for a wander and try other restaurants and bars if you wish, although Marriott itself has so many F&B outlets to cater for all tastes. The views from their rooms are equally amazing – and it’s a plus that they have a kids’ club that close late so you could drop the kids if you want to do a date night. Give it a go with the family.
