Why you should take the family to Iftar @ Doubletree by Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach

Ramadan Kareem, to all those fasting over this holy month.

With so many iftar spreads organised in and around Dubai – it’s hard to decide which one to go to, isn’t it? We had the opportunity to review the iftar at Gastro Kitchen in Doubletree by Hilton JBR.

Here’s what we loved about the iftar at Doubletree by Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach.

1. Comfortable, outdoor seating with a view

As you walk out into the gardens of the Doubletree – you’ll be greeted with a beautiful Ramadan set up. There are fairy lights around the palm trees and hanging in between, giving the whole place a nice, warm glow. Sunset is such a beautiful time, especially in JBR.

Pick a table with the family. Doubletree can happily arrange tables to suit larger groups as well if you are there with extended family and friends. Seating is comfortable with cushions and arm-rests so you can feast all night, if you wish!

We would suggest you go early, as you’ll be able to catch the sunset, and watch Ain Dubai and Bluewaters Islands lights up, across the water.

Tip : There are fireworks at Bluewaters every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 15th to 31st March at 10 PM and Doubletree by Hilton JBR is the best place to see it from!

2. Unique and Quality Iftar Spread

What we loved about the iftar spread at Gastro – was that it wasn’t extensively huge, but big enough – and of high quality.

They had a hummus bar with ten homemade flavours. This is one of Gastro Kitchen’s unique offerings and it was definitely made and presented with lots of love. It was beautiful. I personally loved the mango, and beetroot hummus. They also had truffle, pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, roasted bell peppers, amongst many others. I am happy to return just to try all of them, with lots of bread!

And of course – there’s a chef’s cooking corner for chicken shawarma should you like some.

Main courses include lamb tagine, seafood thermidor, chicken with potato, and don’t worry there’s lots to keep the vegetarian’s happy with vegetarian biryani, korma, and more.

Another dish that stood out – which I know is being served in all iftars but Doubletree did it so well : the traditional kabsa rice with whole lamb ouzi. The meat was tender, and juicy – and absolutely love the kabsa rice with all the different spices, raisins and green peas.

Not to worry – there is always the dessert section to end the iftar on a sweet note. You can have as much lukaimat, baklava, katayef with walnuts and namoura as you like. There’s western desserts to keep everyone happy – and their chocolate cake was divine.

3. Family-friendly, and space for kids to play after food

What we loved about Doubletree when it comes to dining with the family is the space that is has. We all know kids won’t stay still at the table after they’ve had food and I cannot blame them. There’s ample space for them to run, scoot, or rollerblade around – with your supervision, of course. Do keep an eye out that they don’t scoot into the pool, though, haha!

And hey – if you want to use the pool after – you can pay for a pool and beach day pass, as the pool is open until 9pm!
