Le Brunch @ Le Rose Dubai, Address Fountain Views

It was nice to return to Le Rose in the Address Fountain Views on a Saturday afternoon with friends. This time for brunch, aptly called ‘Le Brunch’. Is it just me but is everything french sounds just a little more posh? 😉

Here’s what to expect from the brunch at Le Rose.

How’s the ambience like, in the daytime?

We decided to sit outside so we could have a proper ‘Burj Khalifa view’. This was early March and unfortunately for us, the week-long heatwave didn’t go so well with our wonderful ‘alfresco dining’ plans, so we ended up shifting indoors halfway through the afternoon.

There’s music – which we kindly asked them to change to ‘something nice and french’ – as it was some odd elevator music before that. Made a huge difference to the overall ambience. Guys – someone’s gotta keep an ear out for what’s playing 😉

There were a few tables occupied outside, mainly groups of adults. It would be nice if the place was full – to give that busy, french bistro feel. The brunch has just launched so I expect it will be very busy, very soon 😉

Overall vibe? Cosy, chilled.

There are 8 starters on the menu, of which you choose 6 to be shared with the group. I did think that was a little odd, considering we were a group of 10. It would have been nice to have all 8 to share around, though I was too occupied to be bothered about it.

Starters included nicoise salad, fried calamari, baked camembert cheese (so good, with their sourdough bread), yellowfin tuna tartare, and angus beef sliders. They also served their signature salad – ‘Salade Rose’ – beetroot, thinly sliced pink apples, red onion, tossed with sunflower seeds and honey poached cranberries. I need to recreate this at home. It was a nice combination of light, crispy, heavy and savoury. Especially when you are catching with friends, nibbling on a little of this and that, a glass of sparkling wine in your hand 😉

What about mains?

You get to choose your own mains.

Most of us went for the grilled flank steak with pepper sauce. Note – flank steak. So don’t expect a thick eye fillet or sirloin, it is what it says it is – flank steak 😉 The husband went with the organic baby chicken roulade with black truffle sauce which was lovely. They also had Scottish salmon fillet and Wild mushroom risotto – the vegetarian option. And if you want to have some eggs for brunch – there’s Eggs Royal or Eggs Benedict – french-style 😉

And to end?

Sharing desserts – french toast with caramelized apples, tarte de citron – lemon curd with french meringue (mini versions of the one we had at dinner a few weeks back), and a selection of delicious macaroons. Everything is in little portions, which was perfect for sharing.

Overall Thoughts

Do Le Brunch with the grown ups. Get dressed up, all posh, for an elegant brunch overlooking the Burj. If it gets too hot, sit indoors – it’s cosy and classy. I love the grey and pink combination. As I always say, do check the menu before you go so you know what to expect when it comes to food. Book a table if all that suits 😉
