Ladies Night @ Bar Rumba Dubai

My first ladies nights out in a very long time 🙂 I didn’t even realise that China Grill had shut down! I’m sure it wasn’t because of my not-so-nice post of their ladies night there, hee hee (read it here, if you haven’t!) So, it’s been too long since I’ve been to ladies nights (or a bar, for the matter). I was looking for a spot to catch up with friends and saw Bar Rumba’s ladies night being advertised on the TV in our lifts (successful advertisement then ay?). Did some social media check and thought unlimited drinks, some salsa and it being so close to home would be the perfect spot to go to.

So, with the venue rebranded – was their ladies nights better than how it was before? Thoughts below 🙂

First off, where is it? If you’ve been to China Grill’s ladies nights, its the same place where the bar area used to be. Asia De Cuba is downstairs on ground floor, if you go in, staff will tell you to take the lift up (the fancy stair area is blocked off).

When is it and do I need to book? Tuesdays, 7-11pm. I booked for a table for 4, and I would suggest you book ahead as well as it the tables were all taken up as it got later. There’s some issues with their emails (guys, fix it up please) – the emails on their FB page is incorrect (barrumbadxb@westin.com), and no one replied to the other email that is on their website either (barrumba@westin.com). Nothing annoys me more than incorrect information on different social media platforms! I msged them on FB and they told me to email to asiadecubadxb@westin.com, and promptly got a call back.

What do you get? “Free-flow house beverages”, which means white, red, rose and sparkling 🙂 No non-alcoholic option, though they were nice enough to offer my friends 1 mocktail. I was happy with my sparkling!

Delicious Californian Roll

Food? Facebook said there’s a Free Gourmet LoveDog Hotdogs though I didn’t see the station – I actually forgot about it so didn’t look for it – nor were we told about it by the staff (should have?) They did offer us a bar bites menu though and you get 50% off the total bill for the night. Very expensive, but the food was good so everyone was happy enough 🙂 Loved the shrimp & watermelon salad (95 AED), adobo chicken skewers and californian roll. We must have ordered 3 plates of Californian Roll last night. Bill came up to about 100 AED per person so it wasn’t too bad.

How was the service? It was alright – I was happy they did offer a non-alcoholic alternative, easy to place orders, food came quick and my drinks were refilled. I would have preferred if the staff didn’t come to us at 9:30pm and ask “Would you like to start a tab or clear the bill?” What’s the rush? We had booked a table, you have my details so we’re not going to do a runner. Plus drinks were free-flow anyways, and what if we wanted to order more food? Anyways 🙂 Just one of those things.

And the crowd? It was quite empty at 7:50pm when I got there but it was packed by say 8:30pm. Groups of ladies, groups of men. Quite a few couples who were there for the salsa 🙂 Yes…. salsa

I forgot to mention, the music! You’ll love it if you love salsa. They have a live band at 8pm and the first song they played – Havana, hahaha. Love it! Mind you, it was TOO LOUD if you’re there to talk. I would suggest you choose a different venue if you want to have a proper conversation with more than one person 🙂

Use LILONE15 for 15% off your total bill at Organic Foods & Cafe!

So that’s my two-cents. Hope to check out more ladies nights now, and see what the nightlife scene is like these days – I’m soooooo out of touch, hehe!

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.

      1. Ummm… I have no clue! I don’t go out very often any more. I did the Le Petit Belge at Bay Square’s Double Tree Hilton. That was good for a catch up. It was either 3 free beverages (wine or house spirits) or you could pay AED 100 for free flowing bubbles. No discount on food but there is an Entertainer. Just don’t have the muscles. They weren’t anywhere near as good as they should be. I really need to catch up on my blogging!!!
