I thought of doing the write-ups sometime this week, but as we were sitting here in the lounge going through the photos I felt the urge to share it, or at least just the ones on the safari from this morning……

So here’s the first of many posts to come, of our getaway to Sir Bani Yas Island…. 🙂

I was so excited this morning that I woke up before the alarm went off. I pulled open the curtains, pushed the doors open, stepped outside and looked around, “Where is the sun rise?” Didn’t realise that I was actually a wee bit early, until G called me much later on whilst I was getting ready. Walked outside and lo and behold was sun halfway up, a round ball of gold. Beautiful. 

And this is what you get just at your footsteps if you stay in Al Yamm Villas 🙂 That, is another write-up altogether. Onto topic – the Nature and Wildlife Drive.

If you don’t already know, Sir Bani Yas Island is 87 km2, and credits to conservation work, it’s a large home to local animals such as the Arabian Oryx, sand and mountain gazelles, as well as a lot of other species that has been brought in from abroad and live in the wild – such as the Australian Emu and African Elands.

Mark, our guide was waiting in his landcruiser at 6:50am where we joined two other guests. Off we went to learn all about the history and all the animals and plantation on this beautiful island.

Now you’ll need to do the actual drive to experience it fully, but here you go, a sneak peak into what you will see. It’s well worth the trip I tell ya 🙂

Much thanks to Mark, who was patient, very knowledgeable and very clear with all that he could share.  Made us appreciate the region so much more, and now we can go – there’s more to the UAE than just oil and camels 🙂
