A Sangria Night @ Wildflour Bakery & Cafe, Manila

Been here in Manila for a week now for work. Didn’t think I’ll find time to blog, but here I am, sitting in my hotel room here in Makati, typing away 🙂

Here’s Mr Mustard’s rare appearance today while I was walking to work. Pretty nice place ay, this area.  It’s my 6th visit back to the Phillipines, and this time round I actually have more time to venture away from that route that goes from hotel – work – hotel 🙂

It was a bit of blessing as well that a dear friend of mine (waves to JY!) was here for work too. Happy days 🙂 So she suggested that we dine at Wildflour Bakery & Cafe in Salcedo Village.  Off I went afterwork, with my phone in hand as GPS. Walked down the underpass, up onto Paseo de Roxas. There were lots of joggers, people hanging out at Ayala Triangle Park. It’s nice. I turned onto Villar, and then Leviste, and wa la, Wildflour was there – full house.

We got a spot at the bar, which was perfect as we could watch the boys as they prepped fresh bread and pastry.

Trusting my dear friend’s gourmet instinct, as she works in the industry – I let her choose what we going to have for the night. We had the grilled octopus salad – tossed with shaved cabbage, mango (you gotta everything with mango here in the Phillipines!), peanuts, basil and cilantro. Fresh and delicious, although there were a few rouge octopus tentacles that was a bit too tough. I bet I made you cringe when you read tentacles 😉

The kimchi fried rice I really liked. Sounds so simple isn’t it – with braised beef brisket and fried egg, sprinkled with black and white toasted sesame seeds, mm 🙂

Ultimate Summer Colour Trends Sale

Between us we must have had 3 sangria’s each over the evening. From white, to red, to white 🙂 It was so refreshing.

It’s a busy spot, it was packed on a Wednesday evening and even as we left at 10am the place was still full. Somewhere you could check out next time you head to Manila for work, or for pleasure I suppose? 🙂 Looking forward for more good food.

  1. When you mentioned the places in Makati that you’ve passed through, I saw myself walking the same route. 🙂

    Mango is everything on our food? Funny that you should mention that because I just ordered a mango juice in a beach bar in Greece and the guy looked at me like I’m from Mars or something. So I guess you’re right, mango is a Filipino thing and I don’t even know it. Lol.
