A dreamy night-in @ Torre Normanna, Maiori – Amalfi Coast

Credits goes all to the sister-in-law for picking this dreamy castle-like restaurant for our first meal in the Amalfi Coast 🙂 Thanks M!

Now, you’re staying somewhere in the Amalfi and you don’t where to go for dinner. If you’re based not too far from Maiori, I recommend you book yourself a table in Torre Normanna.

We were staying in the Palazzo Vinguis in Minori, so it was a short 10-min drive to the restaurant. You cannot miss it from the coastline. The good thing is there’s “free valet”, something quite rare in this part of the world as well 😉

We took a lot of photos from above. Selfies, group photos, the view, the coastline. Even Mr Mustard got a shot 🙂

There’s what seems like a private beach as well adjacent to it. Reminded me a lil of the swimming hole we had stumbled upon in Praia – photos to come in future posts 😉

Food that evening, was, to us, the best of our entire trip in Italy. It was the whole experience ay. Bro and sis-in-law had opted for the “Degustation Menu” which they call the Divina Costa Menu. For 55 Euros , equivalent to 220 AED, you get …. a lot. Or should I say, too much!

We started off with prosesco and fresh oysters. I’ve never tasted oysters so sweet before in my whole life. Not even the ones we get back in New Zealand ay.

As part of the Divina Costa Menu, was “A sampling of three different delicious whims from the sea inspired by fresh fish of the day”, followed by a generous portion of seafood and shellfish risotto.

G and I went ala carte so we could all try something different. My seared tender amberjack filet on a bed of wild lettuce was delicious, served with creamed potatoes drizzled with a sundried tomato emulsion.

G went for the confit codfish tournedos, supposedly cooked at a low temperature in extra virgin olive oil with a sautéed spinach and sage sauce. This was accompanied by a salad of green beans and potatoes.

And just as we were almost full, came the mains for bro and sis-in-law. It was at this point we were all thinking, oh dear – how are we going to make it to dessert? 🙂

But really, just sipping away on wine, on a fairly cool summer night…. along Amalfi coast, having good food. Can’t be anymore perfect, can it?? 🙂

We managed to share the desserts, and were glad we didn’t all went for the degustation menu ( Tip : If there’s 4 of you, would be good if just two of you do this, otherwise you’ll be too stuffed )

Service was actually really good that evening. Juan took care of us 🙂 After dinner we went into the building to explore, and was told that at any other time of the year, you would be dining inside, or on the terrace within the building. It was just too warm this summer to do so, and to be honest, it was really beautiful where we were at anyways, so we were happy.

You gotta check this place out if you’re going to the Amalfi. I’m glad we were based in Minori (Good choice, M!) – as it was easy to drive around, and of course, so close to Torre Normanna 🙂 Highlight of our trip.
