Bespoke Massage @ Waldorf Spa, Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

And to end a busy week of work (no Ramadan hours for me…) – what better way than to complete it with another spa date in the palm – a lil visit to Waldorf Spa 😉

Few weeks ago we did a little digging around in my girlfriend’s Entertainer Body app and decided on the one in the Waldorf Astoria. So to those who are wondering – no this is not a sponsored post 😀

We arrived at the Waldorf, and valet-ed at the main entrance (Tip : there is no valet at the spa entrance, so I suggest you do the same). Made our way to the spa, and after filling in the usual forms, we were lead down the sun-lit corridors, white from floor to ceiling.

We got into our gear, and was soon after introduced to their spa facilities. Ah, how I wish I got there an hour earlier! (Tip : You should!)

The jacuzzi, with towels on each step leading up is a little haven by itself. We only had time to chill out in there, and then into the herbal steam room. Yes, a herbal steam room – with herbal tea leaves 😉 They also have the normal sauna room which we unfortunately didn’t have time to get into.

The highlight was probably the water beds. Yes, water beds. You heard me right. I can’t even remember the last time I was on one 🙂 It’s the best feeling to come back out after an hour long massage and plop yourself onto a bed over water. Literally plop. Don’t get too excited though – you don’t want to ‘ruin any of the spa’s facilities’, hee hee.

Just before 4pm, the therapists came in let us know it was time. We jumped into shower room and stared at the buttons. Seriously, what has happened to normal knobs these days! Took us a proper 30 seconds to figure out how to work the shower, including screaming when water started to splatter onto our faces and heads when we pressed the wrong buttons. Sorry no photos 😀

Alas, it was time for our massage. Thoughts? She was very strong, and it was good. However, the problem is I’ve just been to a better one last Sunday, and I much preferred the other. Note that I am very very particular when it comes to massages and the likes though, so you might absolutely love it 🙂

We spent sometime on the water beds after, and then into the relaxation room. It was bit bizarre as there was no one to check on us for awhile, and I was fumbling with the light switches to get it to the right mood. I resorted to getting some assistance; opened the door to the corridors and went “Hello? Anyone there?” but could not get any attention.  Thirsty and frustrated, I rang the spa reception with my cellphone, and eventually the staff came in with some tea.

All in all, a really relaxing evening spent in Waldorf Spa. The facilities are definitely worth spending more time in with your girlfriends, and honestly – with the two for one, it’s not so bad. A 50-min bespoke massage for two is 450AED. Just make sure you go early and stay a bit longer after well to make it worthwhile 🙂

To the lovely Kenyan at the reception who were all smiles, cheers for taking care of us. As with my therapist Vivian, thanks.

Alrighty, time to look into another spa date now!

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.

  1. Looks beautiful and peaceful. I’ve once been to a place, where I was left in a bathtub in a relaxation room for 20 minutes. It was dark, and I got a bit scared. Not much relaxation for me:)
