Pintxo Time @ Boca, DIFC

Boca, Gate Village 6…. DIFC. Photo taken as when we were leaving..

You know we hardly go to DIFC. The last time we went there was September 2013 for ladies night at District Lounge.

So when I received an invitation to try the new Pintxo time at Boca, I figured, why not venture back to DIFC once more. Maybe it’s time I gathered the girls at work to do an afterwork thing there? 🙂

So after a very interesting site visit for work, for a particular structure in Zabeel Park, I took off the site boots and hi-vis vest, tried my best to look a little presentable for DIFC.

First impressions weren’t super. Staff at the counter was on the phone I got in. Tried to get some eye contact but failed, and she carried on as I awkwardly tried to occupy myself by picking up the name card on the table, putting it back, turning around, and then around, to check out the surroundings. Haha.

Lady then started to walk out. O no. What do I do now! I just carried on looking at the paintings on the wall…. hmm…

Soon after she came back in. I introduced myself, mentioned that G was still on his way. So I sat at a table to wait. It took them about ten minutes before a very nice gentleman came over to ask if I wanted some water while I wait. Yay, at least somebody knows what to do here 😉

Enough with the meanies 🙂 Let’s get on to the good part ay.

Cosy interior

For Pintxo time at Boca , you get to choose 5 pintxos (appetisers) and a choice of drink (selected cocktails, wine or beer) for only 75AED. Not too bad to be honest. Between two people, you could possibly choose one of everything on the menu.

First selection of 5 from the Pintxo menu

The beef speck and cheese on toast (first on the left) and the chopped beef tartare on lavosh bread (second last from the right) was my favourite. Caprese bruschette (second from the left) reminded us of the halloumi we just had in Cyprus last weekend, mmm. Caprese i.e a slice of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Beautiful combination.

The smoked mackerel pate crostini (third from the left) was alright, and it was nice to finish off the first plate with a refreshing  baby gem, piquillo and anchovy.

Next came the heavier selections.

G was a little happier to see this, haha.

Personal favourite? The beef ham, potato and cheese croquetas ( the round ball in the middle ) – you definitely gotta order this one. I get a bit worried when I see octopus or squid on the menu, but their grilled octopus, potato and dried beef was so good we actually ordered another round afterwards.

Mini burgers are usually a hit and miss at bars, but Boca’s  pulled barbeque chicken slider is definitely the former. The spicy seafood galzoncino (on the right)  reminded me so much of Malaysia’s curry puff, and honestly it tasted somewhat similar,  of course slightly more exotic since it’s supposedly spanish. Delicious just the same.

The drinks

For the boys, or the girls who like a bit of a beer, you get the spanish Estrella at Pintxo time. I opted for their Santa Rosa – Aperol, Caramelised Orange Syrup, Lemon Juice, Prosecco, Grapefruit Bitters. Perfect after a hot days walkaround on site. Or wait, for anytime in Dubai until October 🙂

So there you go. A nice promo deal, in DIFC, available 6-8pm on a schoolnight. Something a little different than the usual happy hour deal 🙂 Go grab your workmates and head over there. I’ll do that soon, and I’ll say soon before it gets too hot and we’re too lazy to go any further than 10 steps from our workplace 😉

Dubai resident. Stays most of the time in the marina as she can't be bothered going anywhere else after work and in the weekends. Originally from the land of the orang utans, spent the latter half of her life in the land down under. Always on the look out for deals, loves organising get-togethers, and occasionally steals some time for a sip of wine or four at ladies nights.

  1. Sounds like a good deal. Btw, if The Observatory at Marriott still has that awesome Ladies’ night, maybe you want to meet up there, when I’m back for a Goodbye Marina drink? 🙂

    1. Aww, goodbye marina drink, that’s sad! Yeah, definitely! Lemme know when you’re due to go, we should be able to do a few marina things before then 🙂
