On the hunt for a perfect spot for our dear friend’s hens do,  I had researched online, spoke to a few, and dropped by to check out various japanese restaurant/bars that had a private room, known as a tatami room. Pretty fun process to be honest 😉

Here’s what I had found, with bits of story behind the process, which hopefully will be helpful to you should you want to host a private get-together in a tatami room.

a) YURAKU – Asiana Hotel 

This was my first pick, as we have been there so many times for karaoke and have always had a great time 😉

They are however, really slack with emails, so I don’t suggest you email them here at all if you need anything  – just give them a call. 

We were somewhat offended when asked, to give the nationality of all the guests attending the function. Not too sure what that has anything to do with dining in a japanese restaurant. It could have been just a honest question related to food preference, but even when given the chance to explain, they did not bother to defend themselves. The girls were put off, I was put off. Evidently did not end up having the hens do here.

They have however, a real mean karaoke set-up. Go check it out. Check their facebook page for current deals.

b) HANABI – Asiana Hotel 

Cheers to twitter-mate @scottymar22 for the suggestion, Hanabi is another japanese restaurant in Asiana Hotel. We’ve been there for their Asiana Grand Buffet Evening Brunch before – pretty cheap at 249AED inclusive of drinks (no need vouchers, woo hoo!).

c) TOMO – Raffles Hotel

The private rooms in Tomo are technically not tatami rooms but I’m gonna include it here anyways, cause it’s beautiful 😉

More suitable for a civilised get-together 😉 I’ve been there for lunch and they do great ramens (with pork!).

d) MIYAKO – Hyatt Regency 

I’ve never been to Hyatt Regency, and will definitely go by sometime to check it out 😉 Will update this post as soon as I find out what deals they offer.

e) MINATO – Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek

Another, that I’ve never been to 🙂 Gotta say they were really helpful in getting back to me with all the details at the time, thanks for that. Apologies we didn’t end up going there, however, definitely on our to-do list.

f) KIKU – Le Meridien Airport Road

Unfortunately Kiku was booked out on the date that we wanted. Again, another restaurant that we’ve never been to. Add to list 🙂

 g) ZUMA – DIFC

I probably should be embarrassed that I’ve never ever been to Zuma. Or any of the restaurants in DIFC for the matter. They did call me back during my hunt, to advice that they do have private rooms, with one side of clear glass overlooking the restaurant below. Appreciate their call. Definitely will come by sometime to check out Zuma properly 🙂

h) IZAKAYA – JW Marriott Marquis

We’ve dined there once before, and it really is one of those quirky restaurants with staff in Harajuku outfits/make-up. The only reason we didn’t go with Izakaya was just because their tatami rooms had two in one, so we wouldn’t be able to have it all to ourselves. Next time round ay 😉

i) OKKU – H Hotel 

And the winner, put your hands together for, O-k-k-u, Okku! 😀 We ended up in Okku, and glad that we did. Comfortably seating 10-12 people, great food, great vibe 😉
